Opsis because i know the truth and i have seen the truth thats why i am expressing my opinion here.
I am not willing to back up anyone cause i have no profit from that.
When i know (and you know that too) that Hercules has been REALLY FUCKED UP by his former distributor,and we are no talking about 200-300 euros here but for 24000 euros,then i can understand his position and i can admire his strength for keep working like a profesional (at least thats the way he works with me and i have to mention that on public).
I also know your story from Hercules side,you can send me a PM with your version of this story and see who is right and wrong.
I am not backing up anyone here i just express my opinion based on the facts i know,i could just remain silenced in one corner but thats is just not my style,when i know something i will speak and let the people know my personal side on every matter.

Hello! I am realy tired to read all this things..
Overlap album soon will be released on ZMA records. And with as Hercules was realy honest!
And we trust him(but we hear every day that he is bed guy and so on)!
He works like professional with us..and we r realy happy to be new ZMA artiests!and will work with this label in the Future.

I don't know what was going on between Herc and his old distribution!But, if he was doing bussines with them as "PROFESSIONAL" as he was with, as I can see, most of his artists then I'm not suprised that he is in debt!
And that was just what I was trying to tell everyone!He IS unprofessional! |

if you ppl feel ripped of why don't you freaking sue him or something? and why didn't herc sue the distributor? for 24000€ i would hire a hitman to take care of the business if nothing else works

that's what i dont like in these threads...meaningless replies from people that got brainwashed by someone who never makes failures and puts the failures in someone else's shoes.
i wouldnt wonder if their sales drop even more
it seems like a story between two maybe three people and discussing it here seems really not necessary for me since all u got at the end of the day is whining artists and labels on one side and upset listeners on the other, building their thoughts through half-true sentences.

Anakoluth you might not like this debate... Well your problem! The fact is that it do benefit in various ways. New and old artist will hopefully be a bit more aware of the sharks out there and be a bit more carefull before they sign deals (verbal or in writing) and the labels will hopefully learn that they have a big responsability in "educating" the new artists and treat them properly. If that's the outcome of exchange of information in this forum then we have comed a long way. So like it or not. Some people actually learn from these discussions and become better at conducting their business

i fully respect and agree with your opinion. BUT...
how u wrote it it's only valid when the blamings are completely true and correct. which isnt the case here i assume (because the label and the artist have completely different sight). this induces nothing more than taking the name through shit. there is a blame..and after that ten replies with listeners totally agreeing on what the artist wrote without having one idea of if its true or not.
this is blasphemic nothing else. and it works, because i dont think any new artist reading this would send a demo to them now.
i like to discuss with u

well as a fellow label owner I wanted to add my point of view.
I can tell you that Every label today has problems with distribution money not being paid on time or at all.
I know hercules from e mails and general discussions we had in the past and I can tell you from my own experience that he is not a bad person but..
Since we also had some financial problems, and by god I have also so much money which was long dued to be paid and prevented me and my label to progress in the pace we wanted, the only thing I tried to do all along the way is to keep communicating with the artists and co workers we were dealing with.
COMMUNICATION is the key word here and this is , as I understand from this long thread, the main problem with hercules.
If you would stay in touch with the artists and explain to them that you are in a big mess and all the releases are delayed, and that the minute you get the money you will pay them etc etc.. believe me no thread would be opened here.
Now take the artists side for a minute: he is working and making music happily knowing that his album is due to be released in 6 months lets say, he is not informed by his a&r about the delay and even possible cancelation of the release, instead,the a&r, having so many people he owes many to chasing him around, simply avoids contact with the world and just wants to be left alone until things settle down a bit.
This discomunication is the cause for anger and discontent by all the sides involved.
If I may I would give hercules this advise: talk to your artists and calm them and if they do not support you or are not patient to wait for you to balance set them free, but dont disappear, this is the most annoying thing to do and thats the root of the problem, i know out of personal experience.
I owed some of my artists money for more than 6 months Im not afraid to say, but all my artists respect me because I LET THEM KNOW WHATS GOING ON!!.
Im really not taking any side here just trying to shed some light on why this discussion was started in the first place and how should labels prevent things like that from happening in the future because we all know that it could affect them hardly.
All the best to everyone and I think we should take the good things from this discussion with us and throw away the bad vibes around, after all we all want to succeed in this troubled scene of ours both the labels and the artists.
