this topic might be of use to people who want to buy a hardware synth and one more way to crank the g.a.s. to another level
so what are they?
perhaps we could have 2 categories:
1) top3 synths i own/have owned/have worked with
2) top3 synths i haven't used/want
1)
runner up:
2)

i cannot see half of the pics you posted, and therefore don't know your synths.. (or is it just me?)
1)synths i own:
elektron machinedrum uw2: i consider it a synth in this case. and it's just a fantastic machine, for those who like it. ;-)
waldorf microwave xt: great synth. pads, atmospheres, drones, leads, bass. mod matrix with extensive modulation possibilities. unfortunately lacks some voices.. still great.
roland sh 101/ mc 202/ older SH models:
as described in the other topic. just cool synths with cool sounds. very tweakable.
2) synths i'm interested in (and will buy if money allows):
studio electronics se1x
elektron monomachine
roland system 100
of course my preferences change from time to time. and my gas for synths is more or less over, i'm looking for improvements in effects quality, recording and room now. |

the Q/microQ are very good synths for sure.
i'm wanting a microQ for a long time now, or better i want it's number of voices, the second filter, the third LFO and the second effect transferred into my microwave XT. :-D
the vsynth xt seems to be a very capable and interesting synthesizer.
i would not dare to start a modular (apart of the costs). i couldn't control my gear-lust with soo many different modules, many of which are relatively cheap and affordable.. seems like picking some modules every now and then is a must. |

i believe that apart from the voice count there is quite a big difference between the MicroQ, Q and the Q+. i might wanna get a Q keyboard who knows hehe

The difference between the Q and MicroQ is that that the MicroQ has less knobs and a dynamic voice allocation. And there are different versions with more voices. Soundwise they are the same.
The Q+ has 100 voices and additionally 16 analogue filters, a analog drive section and noise colour.

as far as i know the microQ is the same as the Q with less voices (though expandable) and the Q+ has 16 analogue LP filters. |

Synths I owned and liked:
1 Virus TI
2 Yamaha AN1x
Synths I didnt care much for:
1 Korg poly six
I would really love to add a synth to my set up that is Totally Integrated like the Virus. But I don't think they excist yet. Why didnt other companies come up with that idea yet?

I own an Moog Voyager and an Alesis Andromeda A6, I sold my Oberheim Matrix-12 coz it took a lot of space and was no longer perfectly tuneable. I of course own a 303.
I'd be interested in an EDP Wasp, Memorymoog and a Jupiter8 |
