Is it a popular known trick?
Does it make a big difference?

does'nt it screw around with the intended characteristics of the monitors

It's in my living room, so I'm forced to have it in a corner

There's a sub under the table by the way.

Remy to fix your problem make your broadband traps 10 cm thick, like the ones on my studio, yours are to thin to have a good absorption. An easy solution would be to buy acoustic foam 10 cm thick and glue it in the panels check this one out

http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/EUR/Recording/Acoustics-accessories/Music-Store-Noppenschaum-anthrazit-100-100-x-100-cm-100-mm-stark/art-REC0004097-000

I bought some and they work excellent together with the panels, consider also the mopads from auralex to decouple your monitors from the stands.

Great thread by the way lets see who's the freakiest studio junky hehehe           -------------d(oO)b----------------

The wallpaper is ugly, black and white photos are easier on the Eye. That's a NordRack2 on the left and a customised-need-some-heavy-maintenance-SH101 on the right.

I still need proper absorption panels.

@ Remy : Nice colors

@psylocybian: I like the compacity of your setup, ableton + virus snow = superpower

Don't know if it's a popular known trick, but it works for me, lol...

And no it doesn't screw around with the characteristics of the monitors at least on mine, it just removes some of the sub.

No offense but i have a lot of foam from my last studio and it's all in my cellar and i don't use it anymore. In this one i have 21 bass traps which i made from rockwall and it's way more efficient then any foam, and filling my room with foam from this point on will only deaden the room. And the problem isn't really the room, the room sounds sweet as hell, it's the monitors that just make to much bass (for my taste).
