I've been drifting off to Loop Guru's 'Fountains Of Paradise' quite a bit recently, I love when the percussion drops away towards the second half of the album and leaves you with some interesting dreams.
Also Adham Shaikh - Journey to the sun, Tom Brennan - Vibrant Water, Maitreya - .74, Steve Roach - Mystic Chords etc....

There's also a volume three. The From Within series was supposed to be a run of four. I checked with Ear Rational (who in turn checked with Mr. Namlook) and apparently there will eventually be a four. Volume two has much the same feel as one with a blend of synths and rolling bass lines and quirky kick drums. Volume three is different in that it's pretty much just spacey synths. Like a very nice nice soft soundtrack to some chilled out sci-fi or old clips of Apollo landings. Of the three, I like the third volume best because it is so very smooth and drifty. |

Hey guys, i am quite new to this genre but am already an addict :-/
I was wondering which is peoples favorite album to chill out to and to just sink back into a chair and relax. Mine so far is the abakus album, pure bliss

First, I would like to welcome you to the single best genre of music I remember being a newbie and couldn't wait to begin building my library, and what a better source than the internet! And so far, you have an excellent start my friend...

Thanks for the replies ill be sure to check some of these guys out. Do any of you have reasons for your choices? what is it that makes music relaxing i wonder.

This questions takes me back to the thread about what track pulled you into chill out. I am going to answer this question the same because it all relates. I can't even put into words what chill out does for me. Saying that it is poetry doesn't do the trick. All I can say, is that chill out sends me to a whole other universe of peace that can not find anywhere else on this earth. It is my life and I couldn't be happier. I do believe it puts me in my happy moods
Now, my choices, I dont know where to even begin, but as recommendations to a freshman of Chill Out School:
1) A classic, OTT - Skylon
2) Blue Tech - Elementary Particles, the track "Worthy" takes my breath away every time
3)Abakus (hopefully the new album will be out soon!)
4) Kaya Project - Elixir, one of my absolute favorite albums
5) Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers
6) Puff Dragon - Sazanami
7) Magic Sound Fabric, Freedom Star
I'll give you one more, I could keep going!
8) Cell - Phonic Peace, it takes me to a cozy place with chills down my back
I hope that sets you on the right path Good luck

I prefer beatless (or at least not percussion based) type stuff for what you're describing: Krill.Minima, Aes Dana, CBL, Solar Fields, Ishq, all the Fahrenheit Project comps, and the new Somnia Recs releases.
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

time lapse in mercury-ishq
(that one got no percussion going on, endless space scapes, prefect lullaby for ambient-heads)
nautica-krill.minima
(soothing,powerful, very impressive-tho a long way from beatless m8...)
gringo locomotion-ian ion
(intresting,experimental,very creative and complete)
radio silence-between interval
(classic.) |

to it. These guys new how to wright the good and melodic electronic chill out. It's still sound fresh after 14 years. |
