It's hard not to post a looooong list, but:
Coil's "Queens of the Circulating Libraries"
FSOL's "ISDN"
Various -"Albedo"
Cell's "Live at Kumharas - Ibiza"
Though there's really a much much much longer list since whatever my current is mood factors into my listening decision. |

Newstuff...pretty much everything put out by Virtual World and Somnia.
Though the alltime fav has to be Alien Mutation vs Indigo Egg - MicrocosMacrocosm
a pure bodynumbing-mindtravelling masterpiece

First post first topic...it looks like you are doing an undercover mission in the chill out community for a high school survey project:)))))
Here is my response:Music is relaxing when it has the ability to make you feel like you entered a room full of sounds that touch every cell in your body and and slowly release them from stress, but in meantime you have fun listening to that sound game:).That happened me when I heard Bluetech Wilderness years ago,and I keep finding music that makes me feel that way since...

With some stuff, I can just feel the stress levels drop right off because of the nature of the music. Really beatless ephemeral ambient stuff just has that effect on me. Especially with headphones.
Other stuff that some might not normally consider to be relaxing music still have a relaxing effect on me because of the happy memories attached to the music. FSOL's ISDN isn't really an "ambient" album, but it's one I enjoyed through one of the best points in my life. Every time I listen to it, I recapture a little bit of that magic time and feel very relaxed. |
