So what are people using these days?

Services like Spotify have gotten really popular but I am thinking the psy trance selection there is probably not great and you are just renting the music though who knows, maybe that will be the future trend because no storage is necessary. I am signing up for the free version now to check it out since maybe it has great potential for discovering new music because of all the social components. Normally I have just been using soundcloud, saikosounds, beatport and ofcourse recommendations from friends and Isratrance to discover new music. So what are you guys using these days?

And for storage, I just signed up to Amazon Cloud Player so my music can be available from any computer connected to the internet or from my phone. We will see how that works but the reason I chose it was because it lets you upload all your music no matter where you got it from and you can download it to any device you want or just stream it via their player. Apple's icloud only lets you add stuff you bought from itunes so definitely fuck that and Googles Music Cloud does not let you download the stuff from the cloud so that's why I am trying amazon's cloud. So what are you guys using for storage?

I have been using YouTube allot for listening to new but mainly old music as it is nice to get video too and I sit at computer all day for work and it appears you can get just about anything.

For storage I use Google Music (looks like they now change name to Google Play Music) since I am a Google fan and use Android phone so it all works well and is free to use.

Yeah I sit in a computer all day as well and I have very little free time so my ideal way of finding new music is to listen to playlists of new music while I I work without getting distracted. Youtube sometimes works ok for this purpose but lately I have been using souncloud more since they have a lot of mixes but I am going to try spotify now, they do seem to have a decent selection of new psy trance.

Mine is just CDs ripped to my laptop. Seeing as all I listen to arely CDs if I lose the ripped copies all I lose is the time it took to copy them, so not a big deal.

I also dj with Traktor Kontrol so no need to keep my CDs out, they are kept in their original cases on display as I think they look nice. I used to have a massive trance collection but lost almost all of it recently due to an error in a storage facility. 15,000 CDs from almost every genre of music I'd collected since 1990 gone I had insurance on them but many I cannot find for a reasonable price if at all, so am building a new collection slowly.

Mostly I know modern labels I like for those scene, so I buy what they have released as well as certain producer albums that I like. I listen to samples on Saikosounds as its easy to then buy or add to wishlist. I use psyshop if Saikosounds is sold out.

Right now I have about 100 psy CDs, and about 200 from other genres (prog house, DnB, IDM, ambient/chillout/world, techno, jazz, heavy metal).

I mostly listen to psy trance music, but at night mostly Ishq or Ultimae Records before sleeping. Trying to fit lots of listening in before the baby comes .

^^wow that really sucks about loosing your huge CD collection. That's why the cloud makes sense, that way even if your computers and CD's are destroyed you still have a backup. I feel the cloud is the future, it solves a lot of problems since your entire collection is always available without the need to be transferring files from device to device.

Right now I am testing Google Play (google music cloud), you can upload up to 20,000 songs (no matter how long they are) for free and it seems to have a better interface than amazon cloud. I am sure cloud djing apps will come out soon too

yeah I have a lot of them on my hard drive, but I was having a custom built shelving system designed for my house that would have displayed the CDs in a very nice fashion where you could see many of them from on instead of spine so I might not do the shelves now.

I am a bit unsure of security with cloud right now, heard it can be a bit buggy so will wait to see
