what was the first psy-ambient track that got you hooked on this genre?
(apologies in advance to genre-pedants)
for me it was this planet dog classic going back to 1993

Yeah man! The buildup in that track is gargantuan.
Mine was in 2001, a track called Amnesia, by Delerium, off of an album called Cryogenic Studio Vol. 2. It was the first "electronic" track to make me go: Whoa, shit, play that again!

Mine would have to be this:
whilst not strictly in the intended genre (?), it is very ambient, and oh so psychedelic. And set me on a path of ambient electronic music exploration which continues to this day.

Love those Planet Dog comp's, still listen to them from time to time. The Orb's Ultraworld cd was probably my first psychedelic ambient album , I think the ambient tracks on the Ozrics albums Erpland and Pungent Effulgent started to sow the seeds of a love for a more peacefull chilled sound.

ah yes! a fantastic ambient mix. i discovered this pretty late (around 2000) as previously i thought the KLF were all "all aboard! all aboard! woohoo!" and stuff like that was a real suprise when i picked this album up in a bargain bin in a used cd shop and put it on!
has been one of my most played ambient albums since. always hear something new in the mix with each play.
cool that someone's put the full album up on youtube!

Adventures Beyond Ultraworld is the album that caught my interest and had me digging deeper for more chilly stuff. Completely changed the course of my musical tastes.

yep it's a great one , my fave track from it is probably 'Earth' Gaia , I guess you call it ambient house , it's such a great bubbly grooving track , amazing to think it's 20 years ago .

Thats funny. I was the opposite. I likes the more mainstream KLF stuff and got this when it came out and was initially disappointed - but not for long. It grew and grew on me and eventually became part of the soundtrack of my life.
Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld is another classic from that same period in time. Would have been a magic time to be in England I reckon!
