Well there was the whole kerfuffle on the Twisted forum where he said that if there were 1000 posts on the thread asking him to make the new album, that he would.

He's also said occasionally over the past couple years that he has been dabbling with Hallucinogen again - he talks about it a bit in the Twisted DVD which was released in 2007 I think? And the 1000 post thread was a couple of months ago I think.

We can dream, can't we?

edit: here's the thread

Yea I know the thread, but the poster there said this:
Quote:
Last weekend i was at the Indigo festival in Israel, Simon gave an amazing three hour set (shpongle and Hallucinogen) . after the set I went backstage to pay my respect and I told him that he really really needs to do a new Hallucinogen album.

At first he said that there’s no planning for it. So i told him that he really should do it and that there’s alot of demand. so to make a long story short - I told him that i can get 1000 posts from fans saying that they want a new Hallucinogen album and he said that if I can get 1000 then he’ll do it smile)

To put this in context:
Simon was just back from a long 3 hour set, totally wasted.
Then this guy comes, tells Simon "hey make album plz" and Simon is like "oh wtf man no i'm wasted" so the guys goes "please i get 1000 sigs" and Simon says "ok ok now go away".

This is how I see it.

Well, seeing as I was not there I can't attest to the validity of that context - however Simon did post in that thread and affirmed that he would do it if there were 1000 posts - but he was dubious as to that actually happening (the 1000 posts)            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Is that how you want him to be inspired? So you guys would be jumping for joy if he just whipped something out based on a 1000 post demand?

I suggest finding a new artist with real inspiration to make a psytrance album.
Or just forget about a new Hallucinogen album and appreciate what he is genuinely applying his talents toward. Or leave him alone with it.

Just because I want a new Hallucinogen album doesn't mean I can't also be on the lookout for and listening to countless other artists and labels and whatnot. Fuck, it's been 13 years since the second album, I'm not exactly holding my breath.

But to answer your question - yes I would in fact jump for joy if he made a new Hallucinogen album...this is all just opinion but based on his prior work I don't think he would do it unless he wanted to, even if there were 10,000 posts. He especially tantalized me in the Twisted DVD interview when he said he would have a lot of new tricks up his sleeve if/when he does make it

Nothing wrong with your fans giving you feedback on what they want though

It's not like he doesn't have a good chunk of unreleased Hallucinogen material - when I saw his set @ orb 2009 there was a LOT of new shit that wasn't on any albums or EPs.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

(my post wasn't directed at you will san, but to all those egging him for a release)

If he was really cool and hip and wanting to get on with his band, he'd release all his unreleased Hallucinogen stuff on Ektoplazm! Maybe suggest that to him. He could even have a Paypal link there.

Aye, that would be pretty fuckin awesome.

@ the 'egging' - is it bad to give an artist you like a bit of a compliment and a humble request for more music by posting in a thread? IDK, doesn't seem so horrible to me

Time/effort to make post compared to potential reward/benefit is astronomical!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Nahhhh he need to support his new rock-star lifestyle. I doubt he would ever give away music for free

His fee is huge also in this scene.          www.beatagency.dk

They gave away God Particle for free didn't they?

Yes, $5,000 Shpongle DJ sets are pretty insane, so you more than likely won't see him at smaller parties anymore which is kind of sad. However, he does still get plenty of bookings with that price...and if organizers can afford to pay it and still make money or break even then...why not?

For teh legitness in the scene?

Not defending materialism or rock-star lifestyles necessarily...in my opinion everyone should release their music for free and support themselves as artsists through gigging. However, if I was one of the few artists in the psy scene who could still make money releasing CDs or music for sale...then I would probably be pretty tempted to continue doing so.

And if someone offered me $5,000 to do a DJ set? Would I say no, that's too much money?

I would like to think so. Who knows.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

But I was serious about him never giving out free music.           www.beatagency.dk

???????????????????????????????????????????

What is more useful, a comment that's actually appropriate to the discussion at hand or some arbitrary analogy that makes no sense

@ Beat Agency - yeh, I don't think Twisted will give out free music anytime soon.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Ever since getting my new MIDI controller yesterday I have been especially happy with capitalism. Is it so bad that I don't care if people in foreign countries slave away for abhorrently low wages so that I can press buttons with pretty lights? o.O            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
