I like all sorts of music, some of it is even pop(ular).

However I wouldn't classify this track as any form of "psychedelia". Rather it seems to be some people who may or may not once had some association with "psychedelia", flogging the same crap dead horse to nowhere as the rest of the "corporate" music industry.

What I don't get is why they have to use the Younger Brother moniker for this music/act/band?

Dude, quite simply because they own the name YB and can do with it as they please. Simon P & Benji V didn't make the band for you, they made it obviously from previously releases as an outlet for their interest in more commercial releases. It was obvious where they were heading, and if you don't like it then STFU and grow some balls. All your posts in this thread sound like a 14 year old girl who didn't get the Barbie doll she wanted!

I never liked Coldplay until my wife took to a concert in '09 and I found them to be good musicians and great entertainers (more so than a jerk with a laptop on stage).

I think this sounds good, and I'm always glad to see an underground artist who has done the hard yards make it big finally.

I hope they get the airplay & gigs they deserve, and if you don't like it there's another generic Psy-dub-chill album out soon I'm sure for you to smoke & jerk off to           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Hey Mr Venom,

Its just my opinion, chill out dude, some people will like shit, some won't, and some won't care one way or less.

You sound like a fanboi, taking offence when some dares to criticise their idol/object of adoration.

We have a good old anglo-saxon saying that I am fond of....

"If it looks like shit, and if it smells like shit, it probably is shit!", and to my senses this track is "shit", and not of the "good shit" variety either.

Anyway its only music, and an opinion of one mostly seemingly insignificant person on the net.          www.youtube.com/trancevisuals

Am very chilled, I was merely responding to your question & sorry if I seemed offended but some of what you said seemed to go beyond a critical view if the music.

Everyone is of course entitle to their opinion, but you can give negative feedback in a way that doesn't seem so childish           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Indeed I couid, and if someone asked I would. Rather than writing "how I feel" about the track/music.
I tend to write in the same vein as I would have a conversation with friends. I didn't realise that I would have to account for my personal tastes in essay form with bullet points and references, and presented for critique infront of the music inspectors.

Still a huge pile of steaming turds of a track imho.

From wiki:

The band's name is taken from a Kogi prophecy, the Kogi regarded themselves as the Older Brother and say that the destruction of the Earth and environment would be by Westerners called Younger Brother.

The worst thing ever.

Does this brothers are related to the big brother?           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Its clear from the new material that Younger Brother is now working for the ideals of Big Brother. Back in the days Younger brother were real revels. But those days are gone.

you're being to harsh on them, they are just following new paths, projecting your values upon others and judge by them is a little bit the ways of big brother isn it?

Sorry I am tired of people back slapping all these artists that pollute their artistic integrity by trying to cater to what is commercial.

To me what made artists like Simon P. and Benji special is that they were true rebels playing the real deal. So I have deep respect for them but I feel that now they have betrayed that original underground vision which made them so great.

I'll have to hear better once the album gets released but so far it does not look good.

There is something wrong here. You and I are similar in that we both do not like the direction that YB is going in based on Night Lead Me Astray. In fact, I think its garbage compared to what they have produced before...and you and I can be completely confident that that is indeed our opinion.

However, what we cannot do is say what the intention of the artists is when they go into the studio and make music - all this stuff about polluting their artistic integrity, specifically crafting music for the commercial side is purely your subjective analysis - to make that statement and be confident in it, you need data that you do not have.

I mean, if I see a Younger Brother track featuring Beyonce or something, sure warning bells would go off - However, judging them so harshly based off one or maybe two songs is imo pretty fucking harsh. IDK about you, but I really really enjoy (and that's putting it lightly) Twisted records, and I am willing to give them some leeway in terms of them doing whatever the fuck they want...in the grand scheme of things, two bad tracks or even a whole album of bad tracks won't ruin or degrade what they have accomplished and all the minds they have blown over the years.

Maybe they just wanted to make some lighter music? I've seen in various interviews over the years that Simon and Benji are big Cure fans in addition to a bunch of other bands/artists that I dislike (god I hate the cure, that guys voice drives me up the wall!!)..so maybe they wanted to try their hand at something like that.

Certainly there are some artists that do cross the threshold and lose themselves to the 'big brother' or commercialism or fame (cuogh, infected mushroom) - but don't give up on Twisted just yet....at least wait until the album (finally? eventually? sometime before the world ends maybe?) drops to get all bent out of shape.

Say for example...for their last album the only single they put out was I Am A Freak - I would have been like oh this is crap, YB is going in the wrong direction...but every single other track on that album is (to me) gold.

But yes, if the entire new album is like Night Lead Me Astray??? Fuck.
