Heh, I wouldn't really be able to say with much confidence if it sounds like what's being played on radio or TV, as I have had neither of those things for years now.
The thing that strikes me as poppish about it is the singing (particularly how often the name of the song is repeated, very chorus) , the music video of Ru singing...I don't mind guitars, in fact I think that there are plenty of examples of guitars being used quite well in psychedelic music....and in the Twisted catalog in particular.
It is a tricky argument, because I just don't know what their intentions are when making the music. Hopefully they're just making whatever the fuck they feel like and this is what happened to come out. Can't expect everything that they write to appeal to me, can I?
Mainstream/commercial to me is when your music is specifically crafted to sell. I think that people like Infected Mushroom or Skazi do this (though I of course have no direct knowledge), but I don't think Twisted does this.
That being said, I don't think that Night Lead Me Astray would weird people out at all if it was played out on radio or TV - especially if it was beofre or after a Coldplay track . Pretty terrestrial sounding as far as Twisted goes - and of course you are right, these are all incredibly subjective taste differences.

shit indie pop?Its better from 99% music which is on the radio now. This is not like the Infected musroom change. Its way more mature, deep and creative.

I do believe indeed that the majority of people listening to Coldplay and the likes would switch channels when Night Lead Me Astray is coming up. Maybe you really should watch some TV again, and you will see how far from popular music we are here.
I have a hard time believing Infected or Skazi craft their music especially to sell...it's way too original for that. And so are Lady Gaga, or people like Kylie Minogue, Eminem and all the likes. I believe the only people that we can accuse of designing music so that it sells well are those who copy the style of others.
However, I think it's enough now and we just stick to enjoying our cups of tea

Heh, like I said I hope that I am morbidly, ridiculously wrong. I would like nothing more than to be wonderfully surprised by the album. Let's hope for that! Certainly, I don't mean to say that Night Lead Me Astray is as bad as, say, gangster rap or lady gaga. It could be that just because it has the Twisted name associated with it I judge them on a completely different set of standards as their prior releases have had such an effect on me.

Yes, but it's not just that. I've had lots of other things on my mind in the last two years; Psychedelic Trance just isn't one of my priorities right now. We'll see.

I didnt love the first track posted here, but I will wait to the full album to cast a judgement.
I think Simon Posford is maybe looking for some succes in the indie scene. YB has the potential to make a good selling record.
Maybe after that he will experiment more in other directions.
Any way, he was also making Hallucinogen 3...
