Herbivore, if you have no idea what they think, how can you say that they made a choice to make music that sells well? Doesn't that strike you as a TINY bit hypocritical?
You don't know. No one does, except them.
By all means you are entitled to your opinion on whether or not you like the music. I'm not a huge fan of the new stuff either - but leave the uninformed assumption out of it imo
also...your post makes it seem like Simon + Benji are newborns or something on the scene? Yes, it is true for the vast majority of psy acts out there that it is really hard to get bookings and make a profit, let alone a decent living. The people at Twisted Records are not those artists. You think YB plays as few shows as they do because no one books them?
Have you even seen any of their tour schedules for when they want to tour? Do you have any idea how much they get paid for those sets? Shit, simon gets like 5k for a single Shpongle DJ set, and if you look at his latest tour schedule he's done fairly well for himself. None of the Twisted artists are hurting for coin or bookings, at least compared to the rest of the psy community.
Plus, I haven't exactly seen them making a balls-out rush to market NLMA to the mainstream... If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

... and my point is that they did not make a choice to make music that sells well. They don't just sit down and say "O well, now let's make some music that sells well!"..! But they made the choice to make the music that they feel inspired to make (which clearly shows from their blogs). And that's their artistic integrity right there. I don't know if they really care if psytrancers like it or not, but they should not.

You did not offend me as I do not fall on my tail over their music. I do not think they are that good at it compared to other bands in the same genre. But they are not that bad though. Just not my cup of tea i recon.

I'm not offended either. I'm rather chilled, all the time but IMO you wrongfully offend YB with your opinion. So it's them and their 'artistic integrity' what I defended, not my personal opinion on their music. In fact, as I have said, I'm not too fond of some of their new work as well.

Of course, nobody ever knows what another living being has in mind. However, as I did pledge to their album, I had access to their video blogs and text blogs. And they're on Facebook, where they occasionaly post some things, and there I actually have interacted with them on a personal level. And in all of these media, they made it very clear that they were enthusiastic and inspired. Of course, anyone is free to either believe them or not. But I do. Again, this does not mean that I like it 100%...

Leaves me with mixed feelings again. Cool atmosphere but the use of autotune sounds very generic to me.
