You all must be ask why should we use legal software when we can get illegal for free . Cracking groups do all to hack software and bring you quality product to try before buying but not daily usage and easy money making .
You should know that most of crackers leave their sign at every application they hack .
See how Microsoft going to be sued by Sony , soon can happen to you .

If you don't believe check by yourself , find sound in your directory , open it with hex editor and see each file of person who cracked it signs .
BTW Crackers do send the list of such marks to software companies to avoid cheating .
P.S. Deepzone was one of most famous crackers that provide you free software .

This is realy funny stuff. 
I couldn't find that on my machine, maybe you need the german Windows, but it does makes sense. Wav files can store much more then just the audio data.
BTW, the name H2O rings a bell.

Hayez , ask youself how digital data been represented on digital systems . Right by digits same as text ! In past when when Sound Forge 4.5 was cracked by deepzone the cracking mark was name at wav. info now it is just digits string that you won't find with all you knowledge available .
All Windows versions have this file just try hex editor and search for string .
psypox , What the point for H2o member to post here such thing if them the ones who track you muscians ? Me just guy that get software before you know about it and get fresh news before you know . SO i just warm you not to do such mistakes .
One more important message . There is a rumor amoung ppl like me that get first software and then spread it over the net that life chain goin like that .
names are examples only .
Steinberg awaits couple of month after Cubase releases and "crack" Cubase , spread over the internet and they are the ones who leave digits marks inside . Many good programmers amoung us tried to crack dougle without any success from day Cubase SX ver.1 was released .
You will ask why they crack own software ? First to catch you when you use it , then to make you buy it because nooone will buy nothing without good look on it if he/she can't actualy touch it like TV or Mixer .
Just a rumor not prooved yet . |

I gotta admit,
I just checked the LEGAL windows version at my work here - and there is the warez-group signature in the mentioned wav file! That is so unexpected !
someone at microsoft is gonna get it on his head.

By the way, sin't it legal to get a cracked version of a software if you'vr got the original? I am sure microsoft has an original copy of soundforge? Anyway, they could try a hostile buy of soundforge from sony. That could work. |

Crackers do their job for fun not for money ! H2o is one of most respectful groups to accept money .
For your second question , it is not legal since Microsoft used illegal software to design Windows and released it after .

yeah, you're right H2O, I opened it in WaveLab (legal one) and looked at the standard wave attributes. the engineer name is Deepz0ne.  |

UIU after talking to couple of right ppl , i assume that the article is fake , since many other groups still try to crack Cubase . Same story happened at Sx 1 , 2 release . It took two months to crack each of them . |

Actually I think Steinberg only gain from this pirating, in the long run.
Many people use cracked versions, get used to them and buy it when they can.
