Route an LFO to the cutoff and layer it with a similar pad, perhaps use a hint of white noise and add a touch of delay. Also route the modwheel to control the mix and rate of the lfo.
If "narly evolving pad" means what i think it means

A lot of it probably depends on methodology. Here are some thoughts.
Layers. Multiple layers of different softsynths, moving up and down in volume.
Modulation. Things sound better through choruses, phasers, flangers, etc.
Delays and Reverb. Sprinkle to taste. Nuff said.
Finally, Automation. Automate various parameters, and change the values over time.
This may be more or less easy to do in different programs. I'm not really sure. It's fairly easy to set up in Ableton Live. |
