I literally FOUND a YamahaDX27 in my attic. I was sticking some old boxes up there and was like, theres a freakin' synth up here!
Turns out my dad was sold it for when I first started piano lessons when I was very young. But I ended up using a Roland digital piano because it had weighted keys. I can't believe he didn't tell me, it's not like I haven't turned my bedroom into a production lab!
Unfortunate it's not the more famed DX7, but nonetheless it's a cool freebie. It's got no manual so I downloaded one and then cried.
Any ideas how to work it? Or should I just leave it be as a relic. |

it's a FM synth, not a subtractive one
learn to use FM synthesis, it's cool, but harder than subtractive
there are also lot's of patches to dl from some support sites, but maybe theuy're all crap

I understand the basics of FM, it's more that I can't even begin to play with it. The controls on it are bizzare! |
