Check this out!!! The hottest live act on my lattest Brasilian tour! Brasilian vibes and a tribal high vocal live performence! Full on!
They are YAGE from Alto Paraiso,
Three years ago they found each other playing together in the Ayahuasca rituals,
here in the Chapada dos Veadeiros, located in the highlands of the interior Brazil.
It is a very unique place, an energetic center that attracts seekers from all over the world.
The powerful nature, the waterfalls, the richness in crystals for which this region is famous and of course brazils first and largest trance festival Trancendence, that made this region one of the main centers of trance music in this country were the inspiration for the formation of Yage.
Their intention was to playfully explore with their music the tribal roots of Trance and elements of Shamanism,
the ancient art of using music and exctatic dancing to invoke a trance state, a state without thoughts...
In this state the illusion of the ego, the false identification with the self, can dissolve and what remains is only movement, energy and infinite space: When the dancer becomes the dance...
It is in this experience of unity, in these sacred instances, that the magic of Trance lies, in ancient times as today:
Only who has been touched that deeply knows what trance is all about!
Yage attempts this by bringing a balance of Yin and Yang elements into the music and onto stage:
Ninad fires up the first chakra and keeps the crowd stomping to groovy baselines and uncompromising full-on beats and ripping psychodelic synth lines,
while Raghini's etherical voice and magical flute play touch a more delicate space within that makes especialy the female audiance feel deeply connected.
( as Trance music is, though an alternative scene, almost totaly male dominated )
A third dimension opens with Ashika's virtous multi instrumental performance,
playing various ethnical instruments that are used in tribal societies to directly invoke trance states. Thus organically bridging the often harsh gap between prerecorded electronic music and the dancing audience.
When Yage come on stage some alchemy happens, a connection with the audience that only a live performance can create.
Their visual always creates a strong contrast as it is very alive:
Suddenly appear three musicians performing live, but the beat doesnt stop!
They beginn the show without loosing a single beat, picking up the flow from the previous DJ.
Specially for people who are not so familiar with trance it is an intriguing experience to have a reference to how the music is being created."
They offer two live acts: one for the dancefloor and one for the chillout.
They are live-sets in the original sense of the word...
Teir sound is psychodelic, sensual and very danceable.
It is mostly based on Afro-Brazilian grooves, for instance Marakatu, Umbanda and Capoeira.
All music is their original composition.
