0.3 dB is apparently the smallest difference most humans can detect by ear...so yeah its worth it.

epic mate

the initial reason why i went exploring this is that sometimes my kicks would sound different (Droping out) after some bass notes, and after some time i figured out that the decay of the bassline was the guilty party. The extra db's were just a bonus

so when i saw the topic about sampling the bassline i thought it would make a nice tut since i had something to say (which could save people some time diging into it like i did )

very nice tutorial, thanks for posting!!!

to correct the decay of the bass overlapping the transient of the kick, i had just been using clip volume envelope on my midi clips to avoid this.

but to save some additional CPU would be nice too!           http://soundcloud.com/soospicey

This video shows it!
To get a stable good bass first u need work well the bass, then u bounce the bass and choose the best notes for your bassline.
With MIDI you never got it stable bass.

That´s It

was doing this technique all the time though most people questioned it and i pretty much know you can make a good stable baseline without bouncing or limiting not 100% though but that 100% could kill it aswell if you want a more natural sound straight from the synth.
If we percieve the higher notes louder isn't it alright for them to be quiter ? just set the adsr well with the right timing and use that key follow option you never use, that is why it is there for and stop fucking it up with too much fm. I love that fat analouge bass sound with the filter automation from time to time. You can still bounce it. But first of all is the sound you are after and making that sound fit to making music. If it is gonna be a bass with a long release then make it phasered chorused or delayed.
Don't try to go 100% with "sound" (no freq clashes at all etc.) - it's a trap. Go for balance. The not too much. This is why people get it right without even knowing much. They don't kill it with the sound and usualy they leave a very open sound which works much better then cutted like hell songs. Works both ways. Bounce or not to bounce.

Bounce region/track in place (ctrl+B or ctrl+cmd+B), take scissors and do your thing, (Preferences/General/Editing/Pointer Tool In Arrange Provides: Fade Tool Click Zones=Checked) reach for corners and make fades or you can dial in fades in inspector (opt+R), do your thing and than Convert to New Sampler Track (ctrl+E) and the rest is up to you
