well in 130 bpm you don't move, just jam your head a lil bit and have a deep talk with your friends , thats why I prefer the 137 + bpm , so I won't talk to anybody and concentrate on moving the earth

i like the space between the kicks, i like the percussion work and not kick dancing, so i guess its a reason i like 138 bpm (that is reguelar bpm of techno and proogy house, so its mixed great to one dance joy). nobody play 130 bpm at middle of the party (trance party), but 136-138 bpm make alot of ppl react as somebody steal something of them           Believe your soul !

As I learned from my first introduction to trance in 1993 it's all about a journey. At the beginning of a party you start slow (134-136) getting up to the full-on, raging nighttrip that makes you shake off all agressions you might carry with you (142-145) and in the morning when you really reached a state of trance you groove along with 138-134 (depends on the time and temperature). Btw Ii really like the sex allegory, a good party is like having sex with every participant (at least the females).           .......................................

in israel its exactly opposite. u start with slow and then u go to fast and faster all the time, till party end. i,from my side believe and like 136 bpm groovers at the morning, then u can dance and enjoy without getting tire of massive full on kick's and able to breath the wonderfull morning air...
i see the party - fast (dot get me wrong, not 145-150 bpm) night and then the sunrise start the rule the grooving come, speed going less and the party continue into not fast joy stuff..

zombie is right...
sometimes it can piss you off and sometimes it can make you have orgasm heh (I mean long sets)
sometimes the night looks way too long and boring and sometimes the morning do ...

I think 4/4kick should b between 130 to 145 bpm
maximum , because when it go 150 and up it's
not so danceble music .Even at 130bpm
the percussion can make it soundlike 136bpm ,
but this happens more in music likeTekno
or TechHouse ,and at higher speeds it's really
hard to dance to the beat , maybe this is the point
when the dj should break the beat with some snares
because Jungle and drum&bass go from 150bpm
up to 190! and it's still dancable music not like hardcore or stuf like that .

EZ ,

Peace.

First of all some people here say that over 150 the music is not danceable. I cant agree to that. Secondly i dont agree that today psytrance is consider to has fast tempo. I remember several styles of dance music back in the old days including psytrance that were much faster than today and lots of people were dancing like crazy!! German rave tracks like westbam, marusha were up to 160 bpms but still very danceable. Several psytrance tunes back to 95-96 were up to 150-55 bpm but still very danceable.
Some Gabba tracks which are realy fast are danceable too..
IMO trance classic bpm is basicaly 140 up to 145.
Today we have got lots of tracks under 140.
Thats because psytrance has developed and added some deep groove rhythms(e.x. allegria) , some progressive building(e.x. tarsis).
"Full on" today is consider more close to the old style tempo .
But generaly even the " Full on " style is not fast as the old style .
IMO psytrance bpm is not high at all ,considering that the base and the origin of trance is 140 bpm. I guess generaly the tempo variates from normal to a bit slow, but definetely not high.

everything depends on a person.
eg here, in Odessa, people love hard music and don't dance at 130 at all. they need 145+. well, as for me, i like 140-155.           The Future is Here Now ENJOY

To me its all a question of physiology. The human body tends to synchronise to external rhythms (principle of brainmachines). So after a while your heardbeat is in sync with the bassdrum. But if you go faster than 140 BPM for a longer time, what does that mean to your body? Right, it's stress! Whereas with 130-138 you can move along without being exausted for hours and hours. Like a marathon, where you also have to keep heardfrequency as low as possible. So to me a little stress in the night is fairly ok, but please not all day long.           .......................................

IMO, below 140 bpm is too slow. I prefer if its over 150, but not more than 160 (trance that is of course.)

Less and it wont take you into trance           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

i think todays standard 140-145bpm is great!

around 1997 was when it reached its peak bpm at around 155, crazy stuff and i love it but yer i wouldnt be complaining about the speed these days as i think it is perfect, at least for the full-on party choons:)

depends also on the mood, I can go at 130 and then again at 150.

tranan-cluedo is only 138 bpm and is the perfect example that you can dance and go nuts to low BPM. it all depends on the rythem.           I never apologize. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am. Homer J. Simpson
