Hi everybody!
I've put together a Tweak Pack for XP which includes everything I could find to make your system run as fast as it will go.
Instructions are included at every step and there are a couple of useful programs in there too.
Also includes some specific tweaks for users of hard drives (HDD) and solid state drives (SSD).
This will help you squeeze a bit more from your DAW, but most importantly for musicians - the system should feel faster, more responsive and allow you to get your ideas down faster.
Please read all the text documents!
I take no responsibility for any damage caused. Although, I have personally tested every one.
Again, please read all the instructions!

Hope its of some use to you all

Nice!
Will check this out.
Something that i think should exist, is an operativ that is made for studio purposes only.. Why isn´t there?
There should be like an opensource operativ system, like linux.. only that it should be VERY minimal, so that you can really use the power of the DAW instead.
just some thoughts.
Cheers!!

Nice initiative but there are some things which i disagree with you on ,for example calling disk compression for a speed up tweak is not correct here´s why:
When a compressed file is opened, only the part being read is decompressed to memory where it is worked with in an uncompressed state. Then when you close the file, it is automatically compressed again. You may notice that compressed folders and files take a bit longer to open and close than uncompressed ones. For this reason, it is best to use compression on folders and files you rarely access but which you prefer to store on your hard drive.

I agree.
I stole that from an SSD tweak site and it should really go into the SSD folder.
There was a benchmark that went with it that showed a significant read speed improvement with compression turned on. With modern processors the decompression should be very transparent. |

I decided not to add any information about services. The best thing is to just remove what you don't need using Nlite.
As most services are loaded to RAM and don't use any CPU until they're active (in which case they're needed, which negates turning them off in the first place), you don't gain any performance, only a bit of memory. |
