I just joined the waiting list!
I hope I won't have to wait 6 months...in any case, there will be some acid lines and classic 303 basslines in my future tunes. I am soon getting one of my channel strips back (Joemeek VC1Qcs) to record the thing through

I have two TB-303 and built a x0xb0x recently, is the best option so far instead pay 1200 euros for an old fragile 303 and sounds 99% the same |

I believe the waiting list period is over. they state that there are no more runs on the xoxbox. But you can get full kits on ebay without waiting at all.
I finished my first xoxbox now. It really sounds VERY close to the original. It a great synth and there will be a totally cool mod for it available soon: the bcmod.
As for bass samples. This is really not that a good synth for bass. sure it sounds great, but its range is limited, and its analog and therefore unstable. better go for trilogy or so.
this is an acid synth in the first place.

I plan to use it for basslines on techno tunes. I like the instability of analog synths, especiall on techno stuff. I like the motion of a free running VCO compared to the sampled waveforms on ROMplers.
SCM, how's the tuning on the x0xb0x? The Doepfer and Analog Systems VCOs were starting to go out of tune for ranges larger than an octave. The good thing is that the MIDI module had an off set that would compensate.

the tuning is ok, its not as stable as in the original but its enought. the octave spread stays stable, all you need to do on start up is to tune the global tuning. but with a tuner plugin thats no prob.
by the way: http://www.ableideas.com/x0xb0x/
800usd for a fully assembled xoxbox 400 for all parts.

yes, its pretty confusing. but its 800.
If you are experienced in soldering and a precise worker you can build a xoxbox in about 10 hours. I did it in about 8 hours, but I had done one mistake which cost me another 3 hours to find.
If its the first time to build something like this it will take very long and if you make any mistake like not soldering properly or confusing parts it will take for ever to fix it. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody who solders the first time or has the tendency to not be 100% precise if its about following instructions. confuse one resistor and you might spend hours to find it out and even blow up other parts.
if you can solder and are VERY precise and VERY careful you can do it. Most of my music for you to download at:

I've soldered hundreds of cables and did some basic PCBs in Uni. I can sort it out, provided the instructions are clear enough?....and I definitely plan on taking my time with it.

a friend of mine built his own xoxbox, its 100% working, and the sound is great, it was pretty cheap too.

That's not an LA2A.
on the LA2A the in/out tubes and transformer are placed on the rear of the cover facing out.
your picture must be some kind of DIY clone.
google LA2A, you will see pics of the inside and out as well.

a friend still have a 303 ,it sound better than any plugins no question it s the real deal (i never a/b but for him the 303 sound better he is very pro hardware)but in a busy tune it don t matter much.. he use the real thing just when it s very important sound of the tune, when the tune is built all aaround 303 riffs for example.. so depend if you want no compromise on the 303 sounds or if close sound is good enought for you, in a busy mix it won t make much difference specially if you add processing on it.
a other avantage of the hardware ,its more fun to use,it can help to get more creative imo..

The x0xb0x is not a "first" hardware/analog synth to get, unless you have acid lines engraved in your nervous system and/or have a few hardware synths with a wider range of sounds.
Peace out.
