.XI is the instrument sample format from FastTracker 2 age.
I know that u could make them with FastTracker... don't think u can make them with fruity.
d/l FT II and try urself (best tracker ever)

man Xi files lacks a bit in quality, find them in better quality instead or try to find a XI to WAV converter, or just dl FT2 insert the sample, records as wav and just finish it off in sound forge etc etc etc....
good luck!

s.s. u can use xi files with the trackers like FT2/3, IT, Modplug tracker etc. maybe other soft that understands it.
there is no XI->Wav converter afaik, because XI file can have several wavs in it.
it is more possible that there is a xi->sampler's instrument format (like soundfont, etc.) converter.
most xm files (fasttracker modules) were written in time of low bandwidth and bad sound cards, but some of them are 16bit/44100hz files.
most probably they're bad quality.
what's for sure - u can't use 24bit/96khz wavs to create the XI- fast tracker can't play them.

M.
