I dont really know why to make monitors without (atleast) volume knob
not to talk about low/mid/high freq. ...
untill now in my search for montiors with the volume knob, i noticed yamaha (a firm that i love thier sound) got that option open
any1 know about other firms doing a good job building monitors with volume knob... ?
btw what do u think about yamaha monitors, since i didnt actually heard them |

at least genelecs have volume knobs and few settings for bass boost/cut depending on your room acoustics and sub. |

why would you need to touch the volume knob? It's best to make the monitors to sound at identical levels - and better not to give the user an option to change that.
At most there should be constant level settings - that most of amplified monitors allready have. Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

All of the amplified monitors i've seen have volume knobs ... but frankly, i wouldn't mind their absence.
I never use those knobs anyway

ok guys i take ur thoughts but,
im talkin about front control and not rear of the monitor
second if he is active the first logic it ok lets help the user and not force him to buy small/big mixer unit
and it has it advantage of having that front knob (or many ... I WISH)

well asaf if u wish to have knob on monitor front pannel (and i seriously dont know any model of good monitors tht have that) and dont want to spend money on mixer u can do that....
take a screwdriver and open ur monitors
make your way to the front pannel from inside
take a drill with 8mm tip and drill the hole in front pannel
get 100 kohm 2 ch linear potentiometer from any close to your house radioshack store
get soldering iron
stereo input line have 2 'hot' lines and 1 ground (cold)
connect 2 hots to each of pot's 1st legs (u have 2 of them on dual pot)
ground on both 3rd legs of pot
and outputs to middle ones
place the pot on front pannel
and close the monitor back
but if u dont underdand shit of what i wrote just buy simple mixer cose to explain ya how to build the eq inside the monitors is way harder

Why do you want a volume and EQ knob on the monitor??? Imagine mixing for hours just to find out you left the MID up, the HIGH down and the volume different on each side!!! You propably have one on the soundcard, and if not, at least on your screen. WTF is the logic with knobs??? DDDDDDDDD
  Peace and Love, seriously! |

if i didnt explain...
front monitor vol because i dont want 1 level vol(always the same) and i dont want to get up and do it from behind the monitor
my music is very experimental and thats requires that knob and the yamaha monitors got it they just cost a alot !! |

I guess you don't consider Genelecs to be good monitors then? |
