But im sure its worth the money. right now its around 1000$ i think, but still - it provides over 10ghz power in total.
Then add 4GB of RAM + 10.000rpm Disk's or more if u can afford it, then its a power DAW

Can anyone give some nice tips on overclocking Core 2 Duo 6700, ASUS P5B Deluxe ?
.... where ever you are, that's where you'll be. |

Assuming you know how to overclock, leave the voltage the same and change the fsb multiplier to add 300mhz. I haven't tried it further, but my 6700 can get to 3ghz with almost no change in temperature during max load on stock cooling.
If you've got a zalman or similar cooler, try pushing it further, I've heard these chips can just take it and take it. Bump up the voltage in 0.2 increments when you get past 3.1ghz.
Oh, and if possible, set your motherboard to shutdown if the temperature reaches +65/70C to prevent damage. This option should be available on most modern boards. |

I agree totally man, no need for that much...But if you got the cheeze to spair... If it is just for music apps there is no need for that much, on the other hand if you are doing heavy 3d stuff then maybe...E6600 is more than enough for macking music. Imo I would use the extra cheeze on some killer ram or a 10,000 rpm disk.....
  Shut up and dance... |

Exactly. better with to much than to litlle power. You can also use it longer before buying new parts - and apps gets more hungry all the time.

oohh my friend disko u cant imagine how much faster a core 2 duo e6600 or even a smaller model can be! the differences are huge!
not even the fastest AMD processors can compare to them so imagine how fast a quad core is!!!
but for now very few apps take full advantage of the 4core architecture but the future is bright!
