To improve the scene we need one coconut, 3 lemons and 5 chillies.
Break the coconut into half (make sure the is exactly half or else you'll fuck up the scene ) and then drink half of the coconut water and then spit the remaining half at a mad goats face. Make sure you think of the worst organiser while you are spitting at the mad goats face.
Not slice the 3 lemons and 5 chillies anyway you like... I don't quite remember what has to be done from here on... use ur imagination and go ahead from here... make sure you end the spell with a 'boom shanka killa connection' chant!

It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

On reading several threads in this section & seeing masses of people trying to "save the psy scene" in the stereotypical Bollywood hero way i was only compelled to question whether the community at large was addressing & working on the right areas of this 'scene.' On reading the thread by djfullonacid :
http://forum.isratrance.com/wot-all-can-be-done-to-save-the-psy-scene-in-india/
i saw a lot of people very busy, trying to work around solutions that would give us the "right to party" & the right to party safe in India. Assuming we are all on this forum for the sole purpose of being actively involved in a community who's axis revolves solely around the music itself, i believe that it is far more important for us to give the music itself more attention than worrying about not being able to party freely. If we all had a brutal confrontation with reality, there is no way we could actually blame the government/police etc etc. for disrupting our party scene because drugs of different natures ARE consumed at every party by quite a few party-goers. This is one point we cannot fool ourselves about & shy away from. It is a known fact. We cannot use the excuse "hey, police saab we are in it for the music, not drugs, but yet we just use drugs to enhance the experience". NO it doesn't work this way. Having 200 drugged out junkies flipping around, booming chus openly, snorting lines off the console & popping pills as though its aspirin and not expecting the police to target our culture is only unrealistic. Sadly, the glory days of the 60's are over so we need to accept it and move/evolve instead of dwelling on the past & hoping for miracles. If its illegal it will be targeted. Period.
Even though we are fortunate enough to be aware about the shades of truth & benefits of psychedelic substances, by law, it is illegal to consume or possess any such substance. Now there are 2 exit routes that we could look at - 1. Try & behave like rogues & defy, rebel against laws that we KNOW will not change and continue getting our hinds busted @ parties, or 2. Approach the matter in a sensible, responsible way & work with what we have & tap on things that favor us & our beloved psy scene and make most advantage of the situation. As much as i love visiting space with the rest of the psychedelic community in jungles far far away with turbo sound & nature, i believe that it is extremely important for us to portray a more sober side to the 'unaware', 'misinformed' public about the music itself instead of focusing on the benefits of individual, personal psychedelic experiences. I am personally not a big supporter of commercializing this genre of music because the only people that end up benefiting from that are money driven organizers who haven't the remotest of clues about this genre of music - i will not take names but people out here can guess i am sure. Those who watched NDTV sometime back will know...
In an idealistic, yet achievable sense - i feel we ought to divert more of our time/resources in directly helping artists (specifically Indians) by supporting labels that promote their sound. As active members of this community i think each of us have our own limited responsibilities in keeping this "genre of music alive" as opposed to worrying too much about being unable to party. With the current state of affairs of the market for this music - ANYTHING would do good for it in terms of supporting the music itself. Assuming that we are going to have a hard time partying, if we spent the same Rs. 500-700 bucks on buying 1 CD on the market, we would definitely make a positive impact on the current state of affairs. As hard as some people may find to digest this, it is ALWAYS the artists who come first before anything else. It is the artists who produce music that have influenced our day-to-day lives & transformed them into something else. Even though for a lot of artists, "live/dj performances" may be the primary source of income, it is exposure to a wider audience that will enable them to receive more bookings worldwide, allowing them to continue producing this form of music that we love. Taking into account the difficult scenario our parties are facing, our very own Indian artists im sure find it increasingly difficult to make a living as they are unable to play regularly at parties within our country. In other more psytrance friendly countries (Russia,Isreal etc.) however, artists are able to make a relatively more comfortable living by playing regularly at local events - providing more income & greater exposure as well.
Thereby, if we expect to continue listening to this form of music, it is essential that we recognize that artists need to be supported at the rudimentary/grass-root level (releases on the market) that enables them to gain worldwide recognition & so on. So, instead of cribbing about how we can save the party scene, why don't we instead save the music? The hard truth is that partying doesn't directly keep this form of music alive in our country (even though it is a very important aspect of our culture), but it is supporting the actual music that is being released on the markets which counts. As much as i respect each persons individual choices, i don't really think it is beyond any of us to purchase 1 CD a year. I think the LEAST we could is spend a mere $15 a YEAR on an industry/genre of music that has given us days/months and even years of listening pleasure & journeys to other places.
People who expect to be allowed to consume drugs at parties openly & not be busted/confronted are in serious need of a reality check. Drug free parties would be a Utopian situation but if we are getting so cranky about not being able to party outdoors we may have no choice but to adopt a STRICT drug free policy at parties. All it takes is persistence & a continual interest in the music itself as opposed to attending parties to trip out. Keep your vices limited to the 4 walls of your house or anywhere else besides parties if you ever expect to party freely in the future. The dividends may not come immediately, but i certainly believe the solution lies transparent & eventually we will have the right & freedom to party freely - be it indoors our outdoors. I believe it is CRUCIAL for the media to be aware of what we are really into this scene for, in order to portray the right/truthful image. Its extremely important for us to be honest to ourselves moreover, as the solution only lies in our own hands and no one else's.
So why not start focusing on what really counts given the current situation, instead of cribbing about how pathetic the party scene is?
Thoughts & strong opinions always welcome

^^ good thoughts n topic...n yes we need to keep the scene clean by keepin D's away frm gigs...atleast some homework can be done before comin to party if not possible to avoid D.....if that also not possible then one shud stay back home n trip limited to the 4 walls of their house as u said....n yep saving the music by purchasin the original CDs is a gr8 idea...that wud really help the artists and encourage them to produce even better music...

psst thanks for summing it up zmandan after years someone has taken a intiative to do this, a right attitude, i hope people stick to it.
All the best guys, all of us are children of god...and we should respect the fact that we have accepted this psychedelic culture, now we shoud embrace it and not forget the "tracks" on which it stands (mainly) i.e MUSIC. and other vibe related issue which im sure everyone is aware of.

PS >> and please supprt the artists, atleast the home grown talents “What we need is the development of the Inner Spiritual man, the unique individual, whose treasure is hidden in the symbols of our mythological tradition and in man’s unconscious psych.” - CJ Jung |
