I think a large portion of the people coming to the festival are traveling way far out of state. I consider myself a local for the party and I have to drive 8 hours. many many people are driving or flying from the midwest that are not playing.

I think Joe and I spent a total of $700 just in transportation to and from Gemini not counting food or side trips. Money well spent, but still money spent.

Taking a third or fourth person to help share the costs might be an idea. When I lived in California it made it easier and lots less expensive to attend the many gatherings held there. Flying is an option, but them airlines ain't to keen on me bringing my stuff aboard. Ten foot poles and coolers just don't check into luggage to easily.

Perhaps I can just leave the stuff behind, travel light, hitchhike or take the bus? It's been many years since I traveled that way. It's a whole different way to cross the country. One gets used to having stuff, but it is amazing how we can get by with just a few things, especially if one has the time.

I'll probably miss both gatherings much as I want to attend at least one of them. If I go, it'd be a last minute thing and that's why I was asking about the gate cost because I won't be able to buy pre-sales.

well if you do fly you dont have to have a cooler because they will be selling food at the venue. Just make sure you bring some water.. Pack light and bring a tent! Unless some thoughful person on here is willing to share their tent with you. At this point I have to buy a new tent due to the thunderstorms that have happened at the last 2 parties we have thrown... well one was a straight up flood!           Jessica

@~Jessica~ I have a small tent. Flying might be an option. I'll check into it. No coolers, no shade structure, no table. Just tent, pad, and covers, plus a pack, that'd be a change from my recent gatherings of having a full on shady camp with chairs, tables, coolers abounding. With less stuff, there's less to carry, less to deal with, but you have to do with less. As long as there's people, music, and a good vibe, most of the other stuff can be thought of as a convenience that is superfluous. Nice to have, but not really necessary. I flew to Iowa with nothing but clothes for a Mindoutpsyde party. I had a great time, so you have me thinking about this some more.           - - -

You can always buy things at wal-mart before the party, then return them afterwards Kevin           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound
