Hello everybody

I want to ask you some question, What is the best way to work with audio channel tracks?? I will explain. .

While working on a project i'm exporting a lot of vst instruments and other hw synths into a wav files which then i have a lot of audio channels(30-100 sometimes in a large massive tracks)i'm trying anyway to put alike audio files from the same source/sound in the same channel but this is not always possible-

now what i want to know is what is the best professional way to handle those files/audio channels because I know that as less audio channels is always better,

my options are-

A. exporting to audio channels what so ever and don't care about anything, work as comfort as possible- do nothing.

B. Grouping alike audio files and then free/delete the unneeded audio channels which is the most popular way

C. open the audio files with a sampler and then free/delete the audio channels,

I mostly do A and B, what do you suggest peoples?? what is the best and proffesional way to do this audio work

Thank you all and peace

I would suggest grouping similar audiofiles to specific channels - with similar effect settings.

Sampler is also good to use with small audiofiles that you use many times in the track.

Yes, keeping less audio channels available is a good thing.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I would advice you to make group temple aka

level 1 - bass + kick
level 2 - high perc.
level 3 - mid - low perc.
level 4 - melodies
level 5 - FX

almost every complex track on most complex Pc in some point will reach to 60+ CPU so build the track till 60CPU when you can work , then all that done export to audio groups as you do .

These levels temple will make mastering possible after you finnish track .

Just mix right in these levels and all be right .

Try to use send FX as much as you can .

also use folders groups to make sense in all 100 audio tracks .

agree with Trip.......Sektor666 you say level 5 fx whats about different effects for FX in different channels???what about applying different efeects for different melodies......you can always use less channels and use automation to distribute the effects.....

it depends..

but you could always start to group channels and sounds, thats the best way, less audio channels that way it´s easier to blend the sounds...

have as many audio channels as you want and group them in terms of level, effects and frequency range...

make a family out of it all...

Daddy sounds
Mommy sounds
Brother sounds
sister sounds
little brother sounds
little sister sounds
cousin sounds

if you got all these audio channels sorted you can preview and check which family the sounds belong to...

i dont think there is any correct or professional way....

the trick is to blend it all, and its easier to blend it all when everything is sorted and lucid..

i bet there are many ways to do what you want, you just have to find your way..

i think that when you work with groups you should make a second group for every group.,

put all time-based effects (like reverb and delay) on the second group (record/bounce them separately) .,

so:

1: bass/kick
2: bass/kick FX
3: percussion
4: percussion FX
5: ...
6: ...

this will realy help at the mixing stage.,

you can do this with the 'family' groups as well, it doesnt matter

well guys thanks for your replies, zildoggo thanks for the tip- it got some logic and i will try it- anyway, is it possible to add the same audio channel twice? because it's not always simple to group different audio files in the same channel- because the end of one audiofile is contiguous with another one starting- you just glue them all together?           Space is the place

input, you should use busses for that..,

yeah, you can do that (if i understand correctly) .,
just add the track a few times to the arrangement and distribute your audio files over it and then mute what you dont need and bounce as normal.,

but to get separate FX you need to use a buss for every group of fx you want,.
then you can disable the outputs of the audio objects in the environment and record just the effects .,

Make a new group channel.
Then in the mixer, each channel has in the bottom the output. You can send it to busses and groups.
