Summary: As there are more and more users got XAVC-Long GOP videos from Sony FS7, PXW-X70, etc camcorders, in this article we¡¯d like to share some tricks for using Sony XAVC L files in Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro.
Many guys have been complaining about the lack of XAVC-Long GOP support in Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, or Adobe Premiere Pro. Up until now, users had to resort to Sony's Catalyst Browse, Edit Ready or similar transcoding application to use the files. Although Sony offers some trial software to convert/transcode, we have tried and find it¡¯s still hard to import these professional XAVC Long GOP files or even read. There are several third-party software that promise to transcode professional XAVC L files. So far, most of them I have tried either crash upon opening or don¡¯t read. The only piece of transcoding software I currently have installed in my Mac that has been able to read and transcode professional XAVC Long GOP files so far has been Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac seems to workable and brings high quality. How to Convert XAVC-Long GOP video to FCP/Avid/Premiere
Step 1: Launch the XAVC-Long GOP video converter. Click "Add" icon to load XAVC video files or directly drag&drop the files into file list.

Step 4: Hit the convert button of the best XAVC L Converter; it will start converting professional XAVC Long GOP files for importing to FCP/Premiere/Avid MC immediately.
Soon after the conversion, just click "Open" button to get the generated files for natively editing in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer perfectly.

1. Load XAVC S files
Launch the XAVC/XAVC S to ProRes converter. You can directly drag and drop the xavc s files from Sony RX1R II to the software, or click "Add" button to locate the source files.
2. Choose FCP compatible format
Go to "Format" bar and choose "Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)" as output format for editing XAVC S footage in Final Cut Pro X or FCP 7.
Tips: Adjust video, audio settings
Click the "Settings" button and customize proper video/audio parameters including Video size, bitrate and fame rate and mroe. Usually 1920*1080 video size and 30fps video frame rate are recommended for FCP editing. Well, if you prefer to work with 4K video, you can keep the original 4K resolution.
