A guy brought at work today this dell monster, its the most beautiful beast ive ever seen in my life
64 bit Windows ultimate
16 Gb DDR3 Ram
250 Gb SSD hard Disk
read this: Optional Intel® Core™2 Duo Quad-Core Extreme Edition processors for ripping through complex analyses -- which the guy has them on
Anyway it has everything it could have to the maximum, its made for graphics use
Opens the big edition of Photoshop(64bit) within 2 sec ...
Think of that thing as a 64bit daw
plus the one i have here now is metallic orange color ..
holy shit machine

Its still a Dell...
I give it a month past the warentee before things start needing to be replaced including the mother board. Dell is notorious for this kind of thing.
I would suggest going with a differnt compay.
Other than that sounds like a power house!

I had a few Dell's. They have been abused on loads of moist, hot and dusty parties as well as being brutally logged around on bikes, trains and festivals.
My Inspiron 8000 did die last summer though after a decade of very active service when I had a lightning strike in my house, intense enough to melt a hole in the steel of my PCMCIA network card.
The mistake a lot of people do is base their experiences on the quality on their bottom of the range products and then think that it will apply to the top of the range models, despite the fact that they use completely different hardware and are made in different factories.
There is not many manufacturers of laptops, and very few brands have their own factories.
Brands like Dell, HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Sony, e.t.c. just assemble machines manufactured by OEM's like Clevo, Compal or Quanta.
Basically brand-loyalty when it comes to the quality of laptops is quite silly since different models from the same brand often is from different manufacturers.
If you want a quality machine Dell tends to give you a bit more for your money since they not only order machines in very large quantities, but also you do not have pay extra to give a high-street retailer some profit.
The disadvantage is that it takes some time to order one, but if your not in a rush they are pretty hard to beat when it comes to value for money. And if you want a durable quality machine they certainly have models that are just that.

Could be one off case, i use a dell studio 1735. Used it for music in parties for days together in dusty environments, hit it couple of times to doors etc, dropped it twice still working fine.

There is no way to configure that machine to cost €10000, so I guess you friend is exaggerating a bit.
Including all possible extras, all extended service deals and dual encrypted 256GB SSD it's €5800.
Maybe he bought €4200 of software and accessories with it?

yes youre possibly right. sounded huge amount
6000 is more logical, never made the calculation, and he had the big full adobe suite, 32&64bit, both versions, on so must have spend a lot for software too cause its made mostly for graphics use
