Hi All
I am trying to create a chillout mix that I would name "Women on Chill". As the name suggests, it would have chill-out tracks with female vocals.
As for the tracks, I started to make the list, and was thinking about a few tracks, such as:
1. Labs Cloud - Esmeralda
2. Jairamji - Mother Tongue
3. Adham Shaikh - Indu
(...yes, I have a tendency towards ethnic-chillout).
I would love to get more suggestions and ideas... so if you have some, please reply.
Cheers

Natasha Chamberlain lends her sweet voice to several tracks which might fit the bill...Tripswitch's "Roll Your Own", Foxglove's "Part of You", Angel Tears' "Natasha".
There's Eastern Sun's "Beautiful Being" which has some nice female vocals. I like the Seed remix the best.
Also Omnimotion's "Life Hymn in Dub". |

There are so many tracks with female vocals, but one that jumps 2 my head at the moment is 'Korana' from the Buddha-Bar VIII album.
Good luck!

I assume you mean songs where there are actually words, rather than just a female voice cooing and humming along with the track (because there are a lot of such tracks).
My favorite ethnic-chill outs with female vocals are
makyo - skin as soft as starloght
Pedra branca - sol brilhante
Adham Shaikh - somptin happening
Irina Mikhailova - Mori Moma
Toires - Sanati and hamsa lila - oshun
have already been mentioned.
Adham Shaikh's track Ohm has the magical voice of gemma luna (same as on indu which you like) but without any words.
If you like irina's voice, check out her project Lumin which is more mellow and vocal oriented.
Some more:
tripswitch - shamanic tea
kaya project - there is a track in walking project, think "twin soul" though "labess" has Irina's voice at its best..
Also check out angel tears, another side project of seb - there's definitely tracks with female vocals.
Subsonar - gayatri
cell - zaz (but its probably a sample rather than working with a vocalist...the same sample has been used by Shulman and Jairamji too. It goes like "aao huzur tumko sitaron mein le chaloon" which is even someone's signature on the forum..I dont understand why its so popular..
Another track by Cell, Orange has nice vocals too.
Less ethnic but more dreamy, hypnotic or dubby:
The Orb - apple tree in my backyard
(and if you like that, there are more tracks by The Orb in a similar vein, notably - little fluffy clouds)
vatos locos - tiger moon
Ooze - random wondrous things
asian dub foundation - truth hides
If you want to up the tempo a bit:
shpongle - when shall i be free (already mentioned)
and a really great track
Illusion by aba structure. Very few danceable tracks use the vocals so well.
Kuba's We'll learn has some nice vocals towards the end and could be a great track to end the set.
Thievery corp. have lot of avergae tracks but one I like is Lebanese Blonde
and you can always mix in bjork, portishead or dead can dance to add variety.
