also in the whole track i take the bass on three diff notes (f,f#,g) ive uploaded all 3 loops ... the track is on 155bpm.. i knw there are some killer ears out there like collin00d, jizy, elad, wizacktwizack, vegetal, fragletrollet and all the rest that help with the advice on this forum would really appreciate the help.. btw my first time posting my music...

i've only listened thru laptop speakers, but it sounds like the notes might be to long or someting, try shorten them up abit. might give it more of a punchy feeling, also the eq doesnt sound that crisp, might need some re-do there, abit to muddy perhaps. kill some freq's here and there. mayby bounce a single note and use instead of from midi, that also helps keeping it steady and stable.

just keep eqing untill ur happy, im sure it will be no problem for u. no stress..
good luck bro.

on my system (a decent blue sky 2.1 setup) the very low end of the bass does sound a little muddy. I might try setting a hi-pass on the bassline down around 30-50hz (depending on the type/slope of the filter). I generally hi-pass my psy basslines with a 24db/octave butterworth somewhere in the 30-40hz range, cuz you really don't need much below 30hz (most sound systems, even really big ones, don't do much below 30hz) and frequencies that low really just get muddy when you are dealing with fast, short sounds. if you were making dnb or dubstep, might be a different story, but for psy it can really help.

Also, try messing with the filter and amplitude envelopes on your bass synth - As Wizack said, shortening the notes can help, but if the release on the amp envelope is too long, it can still cause mud with really short notes.

And does your bass synth have an option to turn on retrigger on the oscillator? this will cause the oscillator to reset to the same start point in the waveform every time a note is triggered, which gives you a very uniform quality (this is particularly noticeable with saw-basses). but this won't really affect the low part of the bassline, it's more for getting the initial "pop" of the saw-bass to sound uniform.

Finally, is your kick a sample, or is it something you synthesized? Or, if it's a sample, do you know what the fundamental pitch is? Because if you are synthesizing your kick, or you know the fundamental of the sample, tuning your kick to correspond in some musically coherent way to the root note of your bassline (the same note, a third, a fifth, etc.) can really help create a warm richness in the low frequency range, without sounding muddy.

btw, all of this is just advice, I already like the sound you've got, and cheers on your first post of music lookin forward to hearing the rest of the track           Psytrance DJ sets-->

Woah!! 100+ views and only 2 replies...either its too good or too bad....lol

Wizack n MboE thanks a million

Wizack i tried shortening the notes a little bit...so little that i couldnt even keep my hand still lol... but the diff it made was huge... it still gave me the fullness i needed from each note since i reduced by only lil bit...but it stopped the notes from colliding with each other.. but the best part was bouncing off the note n using the wav... full fuckin steady man!! hehe thanks a lot bro.. when u comin goa to blaaast it!!

MboE my techie man howz it goin bro??? thanks for the beautiful advice ...its just what i needed .. the numbers...i dont have any tech knowledge and its always good when someone tells u which freq to look out for.. as for the kick its a sample...i have really gotten down to checking the root note.. i did get it on the same scale as the bassline...but is it sounding off tune?? again thanks a lot for the killer info..

cheers

no worries brother

glad to give some useful advice! I'm pretty sure the tuning between your kick and bass is good, but it's always something i suggest - different harmonic relationships between the kick and bass can create subtle but significant differences in the way the kick and bass "roll" together. but like i said, i think the sound you've got is solid.

knowing the numbers can be helpful as a reference, but in the end good ears (and good monitors!!) are always the most important. I can't recommend strongly enough investing in a good monitor setup, I'm really impressed that you were able to get a sound that good on regular home speakers. I dunno if they are available where you live, but Blue Sky makes a nice little 2.1 monitor system, the eXo 2.1, that goes for around $350 (US) new, and can occasionally be found used or refurbished for quite a bit less than that. it's all powered, active crossover, everything you need, and as far as i know, there isn't anything else in the price range that can compete.

btw, I don't work for blue sky or anything, i just really like their gear, and they are good people too.

sup MsoB

howz it going... i agree with u bout the bass n kick being in the same key ...or scale... being a musician its not the music that bothers me... but the technicality involved esp at mixdown...
the speakers im using at the moment is like ..hmmm ..30 yrs old (older than me hehe )... and are not 17 inches monitors but almost 30 inches...hehe..
dunno if u get the idea..ther like these vintage home speaker - national panasonic.. lol
but in a few mths i pick up the Dynaudio bm12a ... i think that should help me make the killing road sounds i need
also i dont think ill post the new bass just yet.... ill wait till i complete the track n then make a post or maybe send u a link thru pm.. hehe

btw can i get to hear some of ya stuff..

cheers
