I wanna share my newest discovery and maybe it help some people around.
I had problem with explorer.exe From time to time this process ocupied 50-100% of CPU. If you are not familiar with administrative tools you ould see this when you had to wait 10 minutes or more to open any folder.
Finally after many many days of searching i found solution - turned off 'SuperFetch' process.
Here is tut how to do it http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/disable-windows-7-superfetch/

Now everything works very smooth and i get a very nice side effect: my newest project totally killed by iZotope Ozone Maximizer (very cpu hungry) have only 70% of CPU (100% before) usage!           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

Hi

Actually the prefetch service helps imporve performance (you can do a quick search in google to read about it).
If your explorer show high CPU usage you probably need to check addons installed and things like that...

Agree with MashuMishu. Maybe you've got some virus ? Of course if you connect your PC with DAW to internet, if not, try "selective startup" and see what cause the problem

no no i get this on my old system and also on new fresh os without net connection, any additional hdd/pendrive/etc and os was installed on fresh new hdd. so it cant be a 3rd party software problem. but this is still same copy of os

in my case: theory vs practice 0:1 maybe its just only my case, everything is possible in computer world, i dont know. but i know whats happend with my computer - it works better right now. believe me or not but this prefetch never boost performance on my machine for last 3 years.
remember: in computer world every case is different. anything is possible           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

it only show visually that is 100% of cpu usage, but my computer works faster than ever. i dont care what show task manager and what people write on internet. for me important is that my computer work faster and i get another 30% cpu free in my projects           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450
