Okay... If you know who William Orbit is you definitely know that he doesn't have much to do with Ambient & Chill Out. He's spent the last 10 years producing music for the likes of Madonna, U2 and Beck, picking up a bunch of awards and millions on the side.

I visited his website a couple of hours ago and came across his hotchpotch collection of new unrelased samples... and it blew my mind into orbit. <- cheddar joke

All the tracks have a very ambient feel to them and are definitely fit in with the likes of Tripswitch, Bluetech and company...

anyway ... the link is

http://www.williamorbit.com/media/newmusicplayeropened.html

Tracks to check out are ...

Copelia
Glow Motion
Mallets
Arioso
Surrender
Untitled
Guitar Sitar
Marvels of Pond Life...

These are just my quick suggestions, do check out the others. It's top notch stuff.

Let's hope he releases this one himself and not as a producer with some popstar singing over em.

Youre quite wrong. William Orbit's own music has always been very ambient & chill out'ish.
He's a great artist btw. Also the sound of his productions is amazingly warm and smooth!

Sorry to disappoint you va¤n, but that must be the worst kept secret in the history of popular music.

actually all his own albums are chillout. he released 4 chillout/easy listening albums+1 neo classical album under the name "strange cargo". very good stuff, high quality&great sound.           Life is too short to eliminate all risks.

yeah ... ive heard all the strange cargo albums. what i meant was that orbit hasnt relased anything by himself for a while now.
his job as a producer has pretty much taken over.

@ RavingLoon ... Barber's Adagio for strings is IMO one of the greatest trance tracks ever. but that was 1990! its been 15 years and we havnt seen anything like that since.

no doubt orbits music fits the bill... the problem is that nowadays it normally ends up on someone elses album. like pink, madonna, or even ricky f* martin!...

its been a while since the last strange cargo... i just hope that another one is coming along.

@ OTT. yeah i got a bit carried away with the title of this thread. im still trying to figure out your best kept secret though ....the vocalist on smoked glass and chrome.

dunno if you knew this but the original belongs to a fellow named William Barber. He wrote 'Adagio for strings' in 1936 which ended up being a very significant piece for American classical music.

Funny how I came across this info tho... Was blasting and rocking out to this track while I was in math class and my teacher at the time flipped out. i thought it was b'cos i was playing it so loud but it turned out that he was an absolute classical music whore... the remix was like blasphemy

He's one of the ambient pioneers although it's different from what we call Psy ambient!

& sorry for not agreeing with you,
the sounds I heard in the link sounded quite commercial to me! and nothing new....

Btw, va¤n thanks for posting this. I remember visiting William Orbits site a long time ago - those clips werent there ofcourse. I think thery are great! Totally my style. Happy and fresh. But I think he shall be aware of using the same ideas. Almost all of these clips use more or less the same chords and scales! Some are also abit cheasy. But man do I love his sound! Big and warm. Do that with software!

ps: sounds like he's using a Juno-106 for..errr every synth sound?!!?
