Will the world ever be ready to allow free flow of people?

Right now it is not, but think about how people lived in the middle ages and how much things have changed since then, just think that 50 years ago people never imagined that advances such as the internet would change our lives forever, maybe it'll be possible in 50, 100, 300 years?

The psychedelic trance movement has brought us closer as well, most of the users in this forum share a globalized consciousness (imho)

Imagine people from 300 years in the future reading history books something like this:

XX and early XXI century inhabitants of the world used an ancient technology called internal combustion to feed their vehicles and transport themselves around their cities, free access between citizens from one country and other were restricted mainly due to differences in country's incomes, cultures, customs and laws, it wasn't until globalization was very advanced that a project known as the intergalatic network was started, it was a huge database supported by an advanced quantum computing system which was constantly updated by the people themselves as they kept learning new skills which could be in demand somewhere else in the world.

we still have to evolve a loooong way to be ready for such a concept, how fast we'll get there? as fast as we want to go imho

well it already has...take this forum for example...it started with a few retired israeli soldiers who shared a common love for "full power no shit no shower twenty four hours" then they began spreading their message of the benefits of constipation and stinky body......and the world united under the blue yellow and orange with a little bit of pink. this no shitting campaign took the world by storm. people from various parts of the world started supporting the ex-soldiers of israel by indulging in mass no shitting movement...around the globe youngsters and hipsters felt that if they didnt shit they could party longer and not miss out on a killer track or killer set just because they wasted time sitting on the shitter. this no shitting movement really grabbed attention of mass media and soon dvds started coming out showing the power of no shitting...the world had finally come together with the help of a few Constipated and bloated soldiers...and because of this the price of natural gas went down.           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

Tomorrow is not here, we only have the here and the now and that's what builds the future.

we are the world
we are the future.
we are the new generation, and we have something to say.

May love awake in the hearts of all beings of planet earth and beyond, and may that love be strong enough to be the light who melts away walls in families, nations and persons.

Love is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families and nations.

actually there is a global society already in place...if you look at the business world it is a big global society...you have investors investing all over where they know they will get a high return for their money. also if you look at corporate mergers they are happening across political boundaries...you have American studios in China, and so on...in fact the businesses have made the world a far safer place than ever before. countries are forced to think global now...globalization is no longer just a theory its our reality...technology has contributed heavily to this...i was just reading about the Four C's of this global community-
Communication
Capital
Corporations
Consumers
read stuff by Kenchi Ohmae he was one of the first people to predict the collapse of USSR, ...except for the threat of terrorism and north korea...there is relatively more peace today than there was in the begining of the 20th century...the chance of a world war III are slim as the alliances have changed...and today no country can function in isolation...if any country tries to isolate itself from this Global Economy, chances are it will collapse...like it or not Economics has depolarized the world to a great extent...the economic machine is only going to get stronger by the years...internet and telecommuncations has changed the way we live...travel is far simpler now than ever before...another thing is that most telecomunication takes place through radio waves eliminating the need for cables that run across countries and oceans, thus truly eliminating the need for nation states...Patriotism is no longer necessary...just as capital changes hands patriotism can change hands too...so i guess my prediction is a brighter one...the global society like all societies will not be all inclusive, there will be those who live on the margins of society because they choose too not because they have to. unlike older times where u had to be born rich...today u have more chance of becoming rich than ever before...if the opportunities in ur country are not enough u can go to another country and improve ur life...similarly if there arent enough opportunities, that itself becomes an opportunity for big business. 50 odd years ago no one could have imagined China and Japan to have good relations, today they do at least in the economic sphere. 20 years ago Russians would be looked at with suspicion in US....today they own Google, an american corporation built by two Russians..           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

...hey hey we're the monkeysss....right?

long story made short...

if you consider that a few decades ago a new generation would come after around 10-12 years, and that nowadays scientists say that every 4 years there is a new generation, and speeding...i say the world will continue changing just as rapidly as it has before, and even faster...i know most of us (including me...before doing some more thinking) think that there isnt much more to discover, that things are reaching their final line in evolution. I belive things are constantly changing, and those changes are ALOT faster then we were used to, i mean...the generation from the 70s and 80s are already so lost, and getting more and more...jesus, im getting to my 20s now, and i already feel lost at new stuff, i see 4 years old kids playing around with stuff that i myself only got my hands at when i was like 8 or 10...

True, that doesnt mean much...but what im trying to point out is that if we look back 20 or 30 years, and see the huge step we made....we can look forward, and see that same quantity of changes happend in a decade, or less, thanks to the information, communication and technology we now have in our hands...

and in the end...the human beeing will always be adapted, after all...thats our biggest and most important skill, which made us who we are in this planet....adaption

Well, if you look at the death toll over the last century it is also quite disturbing. More people died during the 19th century than ever before. Sure, we've never been as many before either but that's not the reason, the reason is war and madness.
So if brasirc is right, does that mean we could be facing even more deaths this century, at an increasing rate?           In search of the perfect psyktrans.

there's a guy named Manuel castells who has wrote tons about the subject. Specially he has a three volume book:

# The Rise of the Network Society, The Information Age: Economy, Society and Culture, Vol. I. Cambridge, MA; Oxford, UK: Blackwell (1996) (second edition, 2000)
# The Power of Identity, The Information Age: Economy, Society and Culture, Vol. II. Cambridge, MA; Oxford, UK: Blackwell (1997) (second edition, 2004)
# End of Millennium, The Information Age: Economy, Society and Culture, Vol. III. Cambridge, MA; Oxford, UK: Blackwell (1998) (second edition, 2000)

You can read a review here:

Quote:
Castells’ main argument is that a new form of capitalism has emerged at the end of this century: global in its character, hardened in its goals and much more flexible than any of its predecessors. It is challenged around the globe by a multitude of social movements on behalf of cultural singularity and people’s control over their own lives and environment. This tension provides the central dynamic of the Information Age, as "our societies are increasingly structured around the bipolar opposition of the Net and the Self" (1996, p. 3). The Net stands for the new organizational formations based on the pervasive use of networked communication media. Network patterns are characteristic for the most advanced economic sectors, highly competitive corporations as well as for communities and social movements. The Self symbolizes the activities through which people try to reaffirm their identities under the conditions of structural change and instability that go along with the organization of core social and economic activities into dynamic networks. New social formations emerge around primary identities, which may be sexual, religious, ethnic, territorial or national in focus. These identities are often seen as biologically or socially unchangeable, contrasting with the fast-paced change of social landscapes. In the interplay of the Net and the Self the conditions of human life and experience around the world are deeply reconfigured.
