great trick with panman and inverting the phase of one channel have to try this wonder if mono compatiblty is not too much affected

well if the two channels are otherwise identical, and you completely invert one channel, then yes, mono compatibility will be comprimised

yeah but with one side with panman it will avoid the mono cancelling totally ,how much probably depend the speed its modulating , have to try this . (or maybe he use it on the 2 channels?)
modulating a short delay could maybe work good on one channel out of phase

I just record mono synths, twice and pan them. Does the trick and I get twice the VCOs.
I don't do it on single oscillator patches though, I just leave then patches mono and if needed, slap a stereo delay on them. You gotta have stuff in the middle as well as far and wide in the stereo image.

opening the amplitude of stereo is nice, it increases the sense of space between elements

but its tricky, people should avoid anti-phase...

Brainworx dynamic eq. Say no more. All about m/s for ultra widening wilst keeping mono compatibilty.
At the end of the chain bfor limiter use a phse analiser with monomaker and stereo widener adjustment . Using a stero fx b4 the dynamic eq adjustin both mid and side dynamicly can really widen shit up. The dyn eq got a stereo widener on it also.
Great for widening a baseline. For example u can tweak the mids and sides of the baseline seperatly there for widening nicely without phase problems. The Dyna eq also has key in sidechain for both sums. Shit hot for rule braking and sound design by cross-feed" M/S feature, which allows M & S signals to actually "trigger" each other
