Hi Psycho rasta.
Chek da Cubase sx2 or 3(for win or mac)(one of majors for all israeli trance heroes and not only for them).
Down some pludins(free or not)and start to dig .
You can try da Logic but for now its only on mac(also very good and one of majors).
Also in that list Digital performer,Pro tools,And for shure try da Cakewalk' Sonar(maybe you will like that proga which is fully profesional as all of majors, and its only for win).
Personnaly i think that you should use a Mama Cubase and chek out info on all kind prob with plug, tech, and others win,vst...etc problems on that FORUM.(Good luck):)

To be honest psychorasta, any of the programs that make music can be used to make the twisted stuff. It really depends on how much time you wish to invest into them. I have heard people make the craziest stuff just using reason. You can't just expect to make the stuff you want to right off the bat. It is going to take time and most importantly patience. Whatever software you feel most comfortable using, you should use. Doesn't matter what it is. Just use it like it owes you money!

I agree 100% with mubali, the point is try a program and maybe some others but u need lot of time to learn a prog and get used to it. Get ur own way of working, so u can put down ur ideas without techniqual problems.

yeah you could do that or do what i did i didn't wanted to spend a lot of money on a program because i consider myself as begginer so i went to a computer/music store i looked at all the software/music secuencers and i spend about 60dls i got myself ACID 5.0
from sony i mean what would spend 300 dls on a software that you dont know anything about opr just you're not familiar with... why would you try to run before you learned how to walk..... i had it for the last 2 months and man listen to Mubali, you need patience and time to spend in from of the monitor...

I'll chime in for starting with Orion...
I started with it too, it's a great way to learn about implementing VSTs, and mixer basics (inserts sends buses etc)
Also it comes with simple, easy to follow tutorials regarding automation, sidechaining, beat-slicing, send FX etc. There are a lot of demo tracks included that show off the concepts. Once you get the idea from these, it's easier to do these things in more "high end" programs where the theory is the same but the implementation is a little more complicated.
If you start out with something like Cubase or Logic you're likey to get discouraged just trying to activate instruments and map drums. In Orion You don't have to fuss with MIDI channels or audio instruments or whatever and the drum machine is easy to start making beats with right away.
You'll use most of the same stuff if you transition to something higher-end... but if you learn with Reason, you won't have any exposure to third-party VST plugins which is crucial...
Several released artists like Fractal Cowboys, Quasar and Ocelot/Vector Selector still use Orion...

Logic 7 supports Audio units. Similiar I suppose to VST instruments.
I'll be switching soon from VST to AU as I'm swtiching to Logic on the MAC from Sonar on the PC |
