Last night i watched Der Untergang (The Downfall) with Bruno Ganz portaying Adolph Hitler.

A majestic movie (at least it won the best foreign movie oscar) with Bruno Ganz performing not only the best role of his career but portaying Hitler unlike anyone else did before. For me his perfomance is probably the best perfomance i have ever witnessed by any actor in any other movie.

Bruno Ganz is so passionate about his role that it makes you trully believe that he is Hitler indeed. The way he speaks, the way he walks, the way he moves his shaky hand, the way he changes his expressions (even his haircut that move slowly down as the movie advances)from a crazy powerful dictator to a dellusional weak and desperate human. Even his slightest move is exquisite done and perfectly executed.

I was 100% that Bruno Ganz won an oscar for his perfomance.

I checked today the 2005 academy award winners.

Here is the winner and the nominees for the best actor in a leading role......

WINNER

Ray: Jamie Foxx

NOMINEES
The Aviator: Leonardo DiCaprio

Finding Neverland: Johnny Depp

Hotel Rwanda: Don Cheadle

Million Dollar Baby: Clint Eastwood

Bruno Ganz not only didnt win an Oscar for his perfomance but wasnt even an Oscar nominee because Johny Depp and Di Caprio were chosen.

If this doesnt prove that the Oscar Awards suck big time then i dont know what else will prove it.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I always agreed with that.
Last year I kind of cahnged my thinking a little bit, when Hans Landa was nominated best supporting actor and won. Although it was well diserved
And also to see films such as Avatar been awarded the only things they actually diserve to: Audio and Visual.

So I think they are making it a bit less commercial and a less hollywood-flick path.
You can be sure to see Black Swan on the fight for the title this year.
Don't be surprised if it beats "The Social Network".

And YES, Bruno Ganz's role was the best Hitler performance ever.

I just feel obligate to mention that Jamie Foxx did and outstanding job as well. So it's not surprising that they awarded the guy that played the famous Ray Charles, a respectable artist in a Hollywood film, than the Natzi German that terrified the world.

^ spot on !

Oscars are sold out shows, they will not really look at art now before looking at the subject history. Call it political or whatever!! although i ask how many people here have seen this movie.."Der Untergang" ? not many i presume..and i am sure many of the Oscar panel didn't see it as well. Oscars are an american cinematic rewards and they totally overlook a far better European cinema.

The filth of hollywood movies these days is more widely broad-casted because of its nature of language and television coverage. ! hence lots of people miss out on beautiful cinema of be it middle eastern, french, german, japanese etc. And then the role of bruno ganz in this movie is really worth 5 oscars. but i am hope he wouldnt care about oscars and hollywood recognition.

I never took the oscars seriously anyway!
But guys go and check out this beautiful performance by Bruno Ganz

The history is filled with stupid oscar decisions. Bruno Gantz's snub is just on of many. Last year it was Micky Rourke and Wrestler.
Check this list and always remember Hitchkock never got an award alive and a freaking failure like Crash got the award a few years ago. It's all politics up there.

oscars suck big time?

Super big news... remember when they awarded Titanic as best movie?

Good Will Hunting

All of them were better than Titanic           Everyone in the world is doing something without me
