Why they use? Gimmick? I don't know, its quite silly in my opinion because the night genre isn't associated with any of these immature symbols/iconography. There are artists however who do produce music that is influenced by macabre themes, and as you rightly said Horror Place is one of them, but some of his music is nice : )
At the end of the day good music will remain good music... I don't know about this devil worship etc. etc.
Night time sounds are beautiful

my mother when she first saw photos from the first full moon festival (2002)....where only morning music (ex full on---now cheezy euro mctrance) artist were playing thought her son was a satanist.....
people on drugs, fire shows, colours all round, dreadlocks, smoke etc....simply cannot understand....different culture....
now i wouldnt insult my mother saying you are the same but come on wake up......
as ignorant people see raves and party's as degenerative and inhuman places we travel over the ocean for a festival....
...in their eyes either you are a wasted hippie or you are ready for mental treatment....is it so for all psy listeners???
same applies to using other forms of inspiration and imaginery rather than light n love and cheeze and peace which in this world is decreasing by the day....?!

Because apparently bare tits, vaginas and penises are the most evil of all things. So of course they get censored while extremely macabre, gory and violent imagery is allowed. I find the artist that use that shit the most make the most boring ass excuse for dark psy. The best artists of the darker sounds have generally not bothered with such a silly approach, and the lame ones act as if they have to prove their music is darker then Satan's colon or something.
Sometimes I really wish dark psy would stop taking itself so seriously.
I'm so over Satan/Shiva/the Goddess etc in psytrance.
Can't we get back to the aliens and out of body experiences? |

sooo many releases from new labels.. and what we have.... nothing.. because of irritating sounds.. with no understanding..
i can say we need new sounds.. but not totally in satanic way .. after that they call their style DARK... no that music is taking psytrance in very bad way..
thanks god we have old great labels .. releasing some sounds that we need to hear..

hehe  I agree to some extent. But, its not always the labels that encourage this satanic potrayal. Do labels name tracks?
Night psy/dark psy are not the same. I'll talk about 2 projects and i like both of these...
Psilo Cowboys - night psy/ full-on night
Necropsycho - dark psy/ twisted or horror psy
