depends on which vst ure using, i prefer to have 5 solid and dependable instruments like albino 2 or such, and bounce to audio, than straining my cpu with " as much vsts i can do"...
i always have on : albino 2, battery, audiorealism bl, vanguard , dicovery and absynth 3. I have only 512 RAM, and i find this setup to be the most comfortable, of course i bounce to audio often.

i have 2g of ddr2 533mhz on a 3.0 dualcore cpu so i can have a vsti orgy without the needs of exporting all the time that gives me the benefit of tunning my synths any time something i cant do when bounced to audio!
