A lot of things are true in this video, but not everything.. Its not a funny video anyway its the reality, and this is happening for the last 10 years or so. Personally i think the only problem is in incorrect use of the term "Psy Trance", and i think its time to be changed into something else that will represent an underground psychedelic trance music, that is more psychedelic than dance oriented. The "Psy Trance" music of today is too dance oriented, too cheesy and have nothing to do with real psychedelia.. Hope that this will change soon!
PS: While i was browsing EitanKobi LOUD's (uploader of the original video)youtube channel in believe that i will find some good music, like always end up disapointed, when find this video
of cheapest, gear showoff, for pussies, full on progressive whatever that have all the elements from the original video so help them god
PPS: A loop inspired by the topic, hope that somebody will enjoy it!

My advice to producers is to be the change you want to hear in the world.
Yeah I want that fat basslines, but on top I hopefully manage to not use vengeance samples because that's a big part why alot sounds the same, maybe toghether with a very predicatble arrangement but that's not so bad in my eyes as I can enjoy a break followed by the same loop...it all fits what was said by hrabar, this is not real psy anymore, its certain style of progressive with some psy elements but more techno/minimal..and yes its about dancing alot, the groove of such tracks make a big part, it's really fuckin danceable for sure and thats what people like it alot I guess
this style of progressive evolved from psy prog I'd say and is definitly more club oriantated..I always found this music to be for indoor parties, that's why I called it clubprog or in german clubmukke
and thats what it is, another genre a (well more or less, but today you can clearly see it)new (sub)genre or style of progressive, it never has been psy trance and never will be.... I never even really understood why people around here talk about 'GOA parties' when there is played progressive alot togeter with some fullon/psytrance during the night, it's wrong labeling (but I'm guilty myself )

I see no problem with the video. what is the problem with the gear price??
besides the lack of passion of the track it self.. and they all look very serious. but yeah.
at least they are promoting the genre, which is something that is missing.

well, taste is subjective...
i'd say it mainly depends on your suroundings.
i'm from hamburg and if you'd play a offbass track i'd hang myself within 30 sec...while i'm absolutly fine with any kbb combo no matter how primitive the structure of the track is.
and i guess as you ears become more trained and analytical you'll start to judge a track more and more from its complexity...

I think you guys missing the point.
The point is not specific stuff they pointed out (and as some of you noted, many of their tracks uses the same cliches).
The thing is lack of imagination, and repeat use of the same stuff by many producers. One dude got the formula, and then everybody around engineering tracks that use the same exact principles, not trying to evolve the genre but make it come to complete halt.
From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

remember when full-on sounded all the same?? yeah.
there's plenty of good real psychedelic music. but it's not played at these festivals. european festivals start introducing more minimalistic prog sounds in order to make the festivals more open to the overall public.

for one thing the video is a good laugh. but i would not take it too serious really, its obvious they use the same incredients they make fun of, so some sort of irony is to be found in there i reckon.
but its nice to start a discussion about psy trance and its very formulated recepies from the last years through that.. some people may need such exaggerations to see how stiff most music is created around the same loops and shit over and over again. just be more creative and have a laugh.
colin you are absolutely right that this is not a psy trance specific problem, but for me its nice to have people think about it in our scene as thats what we are interested in.

I remember back in 2008, progressive producers started incorporating electro-house elements in their music.
and that became quite popular, specially in the south american countries...
less psychedlec elements, more in your face. and because that worked, everyone copied that formula.
I believe that people follow formulas, because for some.. it's all they can do. while others do it because it's safe. it's what people pay to listen.
