I cannot understand why labels, shops and distributors never try to sell cds during the thousands of parties around the world...

There are only very few shops selling psychedelic trance and I guess the best way to reach trance lovers is during a party...

If someone is paying $$ for entering in a psychedelic trance party it would mean that he's interested in this kind of music.. so... why nobody (or at least just few ones) is doing that ???           *********************************

Hear, hear! I've been wondering about that quite a bit, actually. Back in those halcyon days when yours truly could be spotted at certain events where the bizarre phenomenon commonly referred to as "headbanging" often took place, and the air would be shattered by distorted guitars and demented drums, there would always be a place where they sold CDs and all sorts of merchandise - garments, paraphernalia etc. Why the fornicating mongoose they don't do it at psytrance parties baffles me completely. Comments?

the idea is not so new inpsyde-head! spirit zone for example is doing this for quite a few years now at almost each big german festival!
I have also seen a parvati shop last year...don't remeber exactly where...

neways, I think it's a very nice thing to go shopping on sunny afternoons at a festival...and why not music?
I hope a few more labels would do this...so that our shopping tour could be a lil longer..

ps: why don't u do this inpsyde-head? hehe

that would be a great idea, is Inpsyde Media doing that now? I think it will attract a lot of buyers if they "know" what they want (album) etc. Some party goers may not be aware on the artist and label etc.

Nowadays where people spend 20-90 euro's for entrance fee & then you need a drink, or at the festivals food, travelcosts & other expenses there is simply no money left to buy cd's!           www.ajana-records.com

Here in Israel it is an almost impossible mission.
When they tried doing that for Cosma's party last year (Cosma's album cost the minimum price, there were very few ppl who bought it.

People are too busy doing dopes in parties and if you'll put a c.d stand, ppl may come, but very few will buy. Furthermore, you will have to make sure u watch these cds very carefully cause stealing is a habbit here.           Majority is never right!

trance-shop was on the voov last year. we sold around 400 CD, but still i didnt liked it too much.
when we came back home, we need to clean all CDs because there where really dirty from the party dust. they are save in the shrink plastic, but since ppl open them for prelistening its not very nice.
also the weather was really hot and i dont think its good for CDs to be all the day in the hot sun. they feel like there where cooking....
i dont know if we will make a shop there this year again. maybe we will do just a meeting point this time to get some personal contact to the ppl.

you can keep the cds behind the counter and just leave the covers so that people can see.

back to the topic

I dont their will be many people buying cds at parties for several reasons e.g. not enough money, dont want to lose time etc... but I do believe that a little stand at a festival would sell quite a few cds, people have more time, more money and are willing to walk about and look around.           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Heh heh, with all the DJ's and wannabe DJ's at any party, I think it would be a profitable enterprise to put up "CD Copy" machines... You know, kind of like a train ticket machine, only with 2 slots for CD's and 1 for money. Each copy $2. I think it would definitely sell.

There could be sponsorship from Ahead Software (who makes Nero Burning Rom), maybe a big red box with flames on it. At the next Voov! Who knows it just might work.

I have seen the russians selling CDs at parties in New York and New Jersey. They sell them for 10 bucks...half the price that the Global trance store in the east village sells them for.

Hey man, as you see it isn't true that "nobody" sells cds. But most of the times it's just meaningless to do that. It could work if the party was organized by a label thus having a "concept".
