something strange happen here ...

I have a track finished and bounced to wave in ( 44.1 24 bit at -3 db on master channel )
i wanna to apply some limitation, to make some demos and play it in a partys a little bit louder... so in my monitors (krk ) the limitation sound good and without distortion but in my hifi speakers sony, sound with distortion maybe are fucked up? no... because the others musics sounds good i send a track to a friend to ear and he heard distortion to ... i try diferent limiters psp xenon the native of cubase ... so in my monitors sound good but in other systems have distortion ?? any one have a clue ..?

What kind of speakers did you use to mix this track?

How much dB headroom you have in your pre master mix?

Sounds likes a mix problem prolly on low frequencies you are not listening when mixing.

hi aciduss thanks for your reply

i mix in my monitors (KrK 8) and i have -3 -4 headroom in the master before the final export .

the strange thing is in my studio (not treated acoustically yet...) i make the limitation and the music sounds power and good ... but on litle systems like my sony i have distortion

im gonna play in a party here in portugal tomorow and i have 2 new tracks I want to play . but im afraid to get distortion on the p.a system ...

Hey man. I have the exact same monitors... maybe i can listen for you. Headroom seems ok... i don't know what would be causing distortion :/

maybe distortion cause of limiting and how your track is mixed, you can use slower release on the limiter but you may loose loudness and punch.
maybe try to use your hifi speaker to master the track first then adjust on the krk if needed.

Thanks, that was entertaining.

it sounds like you just wanted to get your track listened to.... It doesn't sound distorted on my monitors or headphones. BUT...... maybe the frequencies are too much for cheap computer speakers?

of course i want my track listened... but not in this post ... tomorow im gonna play on a party and im afraid to get distortion ...

and in my monitors sounds good to ... maybe can be too much for cheap computer speakers as you say beacause i only get distortion if i put de itunes volume in maximum and the volume of my computer in maximum to if i put the volume a a litle bit lower sounds good .

but if you listen good its a good new....

however in monitores sound cool tomorow on the stage gonna sound good to right? i hope so....

thanks for the reply           thoughts become things

I heard in KRKs and Headfons, no distortion was apparent to me.

Also checked the wave in Audition and everything seems ok.

I hope everything goes well on stage dude.

Ive also experienced this distortion youre talking about. After bouncing it would sound perfect on my headphones and speakers. Then I hear it on my other laptop and this horrible distortion is audible in parts. Then i send to my friends and they tell me theres no distortion. Also not on my car speakers and ipod. Strange! I still havent figured it out.

Ive been using psp vintage warmer 2 on my master channel and ive heard that there are distortion issues with it at times.           StarLab - Label DJ/Artist for Digital Om Productions

maybe your laptop setting are over 100% volume?

beside , i sometime get distortion on last track burned to cd (god know why)
and some cds read 0DB master as distortion so i bounce always -0.2 or so the final wave           www.sattelbattle.com
