2,000 total supporters is meant for the USA as a whole.. Gaian Mind being the largest event in the USA only gets around 1,000 people and there is not another party on its side of the country. The funny thing about that event is that its not 100% true psytrance and gears itself towards raveish style trance. More like a BOOM event. You know where 5% of the artist are ground breaking and the rest are more mainstream.
Good luck getting crews to come together. To much ego and not willing to compromise.

What are you talking about? Have you even been to GMSF? Most of the artists booked are local (or at least in the US) guys playing really nice underground stuff. It's not anywhere near a mainstream event.
It also had around 1,000 people 2 years ago, and there's been 100-200 more every year.

I think he means the main headliners are well known acts. Like this year was Rastaliens, Braincell, EVP, Reality Grid, Digitalist, Aes Dana, etc. Someone said they got about 1400 this year.

I know, I was just saying that 80% of the artists playing aren't main headliners.
I was just annoyed by the statement that it wasn't "true psytrance" when they've had guys like Gus Till and Dick Trevor...and Kane.

The most important question is, why Football isnt big in U.S.
I think it's all about hype and also americans probably don't like things that it's not their invention! |

+1 for that ,,no commercial & no sells gets +1 too

I think this might be alot of it. American rave culture doesn't give a shit about it's spirit. They want to go to a party, not to some delusional religious ceremony... I can't say I blame American rave culture for this. |

What is big? Are we talking to where its on the radio and in elevators? Are we talking about making the USA a trance destination as in big? I know Psy has played some major rolls in it's communities where its Big so, what has psy done for its communities in the USA? find the answer to that and then you can find your answer to big. Why are there no events on Cherokee land for instance so we can get recognized for something else beside a drug culture. Does the USA psy culture do anything beside better themselves? Are the psy heads willing to work with the other rave cultures to grow big? Can you get a college credit by attending a festival? Why not?
Until I understand what big is, all I can do is ask...

well no not big to the point where it becomes mainstream enough to be on the radio on in elevators? when you throw on psy in my area people look at you in the weirdest way, they have no idea what it is and most are not openminded enough to give it a chance. alright so the scenes in new york, philly, and the greater california areas have the bigger scenes out of the us that im aware of. yah an theres a decent amount of psy festivals the alladin orb festival, gaian mind, world bridge, gemini and touch samadhi..etc .here in atlanta, the organization, atlanta psytrance, holds parties every blue moon..they just had one at the end of october but before that the last one was at the end of may..so thats a pretty big gap i would say...the dnb scene in atl is huge stuff every weekend but psy not at all. i mean the us does have a pretty big electronic scene with the acts from camp bisco always touring the us..but psytrance? no. at least where i live. i mean psytrance is much more accepted and widespread outside the us. i mean even in canada its huge and the us. is right below it.. americans as a whole just dont get it and they never will..we are in need for some serious realtiy checks..--this end statement has nothing to do with psy just with the american ppl |

Great potential for psytrance to grow really big in USA , probably that is just what is going on since this music has started to really spread and people can hear it much easier now then before (due to internet etc ) |

psytrance, as in the real twisted stuff, will never be hug anywhere.
Now progressive, electro, minimal & the new full on has much more appeal to a general market that loves to have melody, a funky sound & also samples/vox that a relevant to the modern club & pop marker.
I have never been to America, but having lived with two Americans for a year in Japan in 2006, I gathered that for something to be big & to gain mass appeal it needs to lock in with current trends.
I think in Europe, Japan & Australia it is much easier to have underground & subcultures based on music styles that are weird & twisted because a lot of people aren't as locked into what is popular & how to be popular.
Actually, here in Australia a lot of my friends have told me they prefer my "dark" psy & old school goa to my euro club prog & minimal stuff.
Anway, am rambling now, but i reckon the American market is the hardest to break into with any style, especially the psy trance style seeing as many rock & pop acts from outside struggle to make it in there.
I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy! |

lets be honest, the music that is big and popular in the US really sucks balls for the most part. Music always stays better underground. And that is true for any genre of music. I like the way the US scene is, the psyparties feel like they are done more for love than money
