because most of it sucks ? Lol . Mono tones wit filters do not make music . And somehow the whole world knows it not just ronald .

Anyways , Psy will never be pop. Some new clever music for a lesser drug frndly audience will take over soon . Maybe tech or minimal sounds nice. which ofcourse is big already, bigger than psy.

I agree with KRI. The american scene is perfect sized. There are big parties with international headliners and homegrown artists and djs with talent. 80% of it is underground and for the love of the music. I hope it stays this way!!           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

That depends on where you live in the US. We've been having frequent (awesome) parties here in the midwest (mostly due to having 3 crews that can throw parties in cities that are only a max of 7 hours from each other). I'm also lucky enough to live 45 minutes from a hookah bar where the owner loves dark psy and asks us to play there frequently (and we have a scheduled monthly that goes on there).

It's tough to throw parties too. Venues are rare to find and finding a good one that is run well is even rarer. Venues also cost a lot of money and so do plane tickets/other expenses to get artists. I love smaller parties, but it's hard to throw them frequently when you're constantly losing money and spending a lot of time finding venues. Not many mainstream establishments will even let you throw a psy party (and even if they do, they usually close at 2am due to liquor licensing- ugh), so you often have to dig. There's also a lot of bs you have to deal with/worry about with police too. Since electronic music isn't main stream most people assuming anything with it has a bunch of pill-popping kids running around (which is generally frowned upon).

In conclusion I will say that not having a big scene is completely fine with me (and most people here agree), I just gotta work on solutions to minimize losses           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

They keyword being "Big" in the context of psy-trance ofcourse a 3k - 7k festival.

Can someone correct me if I m wrong but there hasnt been a true diverse(Fullon Prog Dark) internatinol festival in Northern California or USA since fusion festival wich it was around 2001 and the crowds there at most exagerating were 1500 probably around 1000. During the the days of blue room and CCC this were probably the best days in the psy trance scene in US. I can attest this was truely one of the best scenes around the world. Not because of its size but because of its diversity!

Ofcourse there are pockets of people around the country with very nice compact scenes but nothing like South Africa or Mexico Brazil Australia etc!

I wouldn't consider just having full-on, dark and prog to be "diverse". I'd say they're necessary for any good party (can get away with no prog if it's a 1 night indoor party).

Most 3 days around here have all types of psy, chillout/ambient, prog and other types such as atomospheric dnb, breaks, dubstep, even some touches of pure trance and techno. Limitlessness is the only limit to the creation of a party imo.

I'm unaware of a psy party that has eclipsed 500 (maybe even 400) in the midwest.          http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I definitely want my prog and dont want DnB and breaks none of that just Psy but I am old school.

Diverse or I dont know what word you would use but a festival that has these styles but only psy no house no break none of that!

If I want want house break I can go to 1015 folson, and again the question is not if you can cant get by with or dark or prog the question is why is not psy big in US ? Taking in consideration everyone right? 400 -500 that is multiday party festival has to be at least 1000 looking at it from global perspictive but not in the view of Germany, Portugal Brazil which are power houses!

Ok may be some Psy break would be nice=)!

Just to clarify- those other styles are only played on a second stage.

I think if electronic music ever got more main stream, the psy scene would gain numbers. That scene is proportionally as small as psy is when compared to other countries so I believe they go hand in hand (not the types of music, but a country's interest in electronic music in general).           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Different Culture,Mixed Ethnicities,Strict Authorities,Big Competition and a matter of timing.

USA is a very complicated country and mostly it introduces new trends to the world (poker, massive television series like Lost and Prison Break and Starbucks just to name a few recent ones) rather than adopting new trends from other countries.I am trying really hard to think of a European trend for example that invaded USA in the last two years and i really cant come up with anything.

Music speaking its very difficult for a different and relatively new style of music like psy trance to invade the United States, people grow up with MTV and VH1 that transmit on a global scale while psy trance doesnt even have its own tv channel anywhere on the planet.

Next to that USA is a massive consumption society and that is the image promoted everywhere including the music industry therefore every music video clip aired in the USA includes huge mansions, expensive cars, gold and diamond jewells, private jets and stuff like that.Psy trance is the exact opposite of this fashion image so no wonder it doesnt get big exposure in the states.

So big competition and different culture as i said earlier, add to these two the strict authorities that would never allow a big psy trance festival in a major american city plus the fact that 30% of the population belongs in ethnicities that have absolutely nothing to do with psy trance (like muslims, black people and the chinese for example) and you can see why psy trance isnt popular in the USA.

Ofcourse times change and noone can predict the future,i mean back in 1999-2000 when psy trance was massive in Europe noone ever thought that countries like Brazil,Mexico and Japan would become the next trance capitals and steal the glory from Israel,England,Germany and even Greece i dare to say that had a huge scene back in those days with 3-4 thousand people every weekend visiting psy trance events.

So who knows maybe in 5 years from now New York will be the next psy trance capital along with Beijing and Lebanon.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

If you want to experience a big, professional, world-class festival on North American soil, head north to the annual Eclipse festival in Quebec.

How about some perspective: you have people in Europe complaining that things are too big and commercial... and people in North America wondering why psytrance culture isn't larger and more widespread. We should take a year and all switch
