Sure....I agree that one can do without all the attitude but I do think that just as many producers in the polished==good camp have an attitude thinking they are cooler than the "darkpsy kids". Maybe it's not as in yer face many times (Atma excepted  ), but they are still suffering from the same holier than thou mentality.
In their defense (and mine as well...I'm not exactly free of attitude myself ), even if I often don't agree with the mentality I think it's somehow engrained in the music making and DJ'ing process to be a bit judgemental.
It's all about passing judgements as to what works or not, and if you can do it with as little attitude as possible that's great, but it's not surprising that you find a lot of people with strong opinions and a lot of attitude among producers and DJ's.

i dunno about less bass etc .. but yeah .. do this all .. just pick 10 random prog / fullon .. and compare to 10 random `darkpsy` releases .. and you will find that yes indeed .. darkpsy quality for the most part is sux .. atma didnt say anything wrong there .. dunno why ppl getting all defensive / aggressive .. dark is inferior quality music technically .. but it outscores the clubby prog and generic fullon in many many other areas ..

dark producers try to sound underground (getting a dirty sound help )you can t compare both,the psy/dark production give a vibe to the tracks too. but for me lot of crystal clear full on is not better produced, it all depends what good production is for you.i like more a dark track with low rms and dynamics than crystal clear full on too much compressed. |

check for example talpa's album......i love this dirty sound! or X- Dream.....wich is good example for this thread (kick&bass combo)
and ofcourse psykovsky(imho one of the best artists in psyscene)......all his production made with purpose
but so called "darkpsy" is very very bad production....very bad mixing skills
bad mastering
