i've never seen anyone dance to dnb like that. over here they all just sway from side to side like in those darkpsy movies.

That video reminds me of people dancing "shuffle"....google it, its funny to watch
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPaMdxC6CQI)

I think tho that its more "dancing" to a choreography(sp?) or so, which has to be learned inside-out before....I wonder what those people do when they dance freely...I guess it will look very different           My first track:

shuffling is pretty freestyle, it's easy to change direction, kick in different directions, do different things with your hands while still maintaining the shuffle, since you only really need one foot to shuffle side to side

it also looks really cool, especially if you wear the right kind of clothes (flared, baggy pants) it looks like you're floating.

the 'melbourne shuffle' dance is a little stupid imho. but it sure is great to go nuts like that.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

dance instructor here...

1) dnb is awesome to dance to. the broken beat, though fast, facilitates either a very quick, footwork-heavy style of dance, or just dancing in half-time to the snares. now, dnb is often at 160-180 bpm, BUT

2) in 4-to-the-floor this is different. the beats are not broken, and the emphasis is DEFINITELY on the kick. Now, here is where I can honestly tell you that 150bpm is pushing it, and anything above is far less "natural" to dance to:

most dancing tempos (for electronica, let's say usually between 110 and 145) it feels quite natural and even easy to 'bounce.' that is to say, you only need to work your legs/hips/etc moving quickly in one direction (usually down, on the downbeat).

now, somewhere between 147-150 bpm, this changes. you need to actually exert force to speed up you return to a ready position to dance again on the downbeat. this is why you'll often hear people comment that it is easy to dance to 145 for hours and hours on end, and at 150, just 5bpm higher, they would get very tired rather quickly.

why does dnb work at this tempo? the feet glide and shuffle, but the rest of your body doesn't really need to do that satisfying 'oompah' groove on every beat.

does this make 150bpm+ music bad for dancing? no, nor does it even mean that there aren't some who will dance to it for hours. but what it does mean is that for the average person, 145, maybe 147-148 tops, is where it stops feeling all that entrancing.

after all that, i have to say, one of the things that keeps me coming back to psytrance for dancing (even when producing trippy dubstep and psychedelic minimal tech) is this: it's as fast and intense as is comfortable without being too fast, and there's enough syncopation that there are truly limitless possibilities for emphasis and flow in dancing. kbbb @ 145 ftw, and honestly, that's the dance teacher in me talking, not the producer or music lover.

I've watched a room full of kids dancing their butts off to 150+ bpm hard nrg/uk hard house, so it's not like it's impossible to dance to music that fast, it just takes effort and you will get tired soon.

it is all because the devil stands in the corner and if he sees you move too slow to 160 beat he instantly adds you to his list of losers.
if he ever sees you shake your ass to 166 bpm he rapes your behind at that instance.
if you ever, even just once cathches you missing the beat he stucks his horn in your heart and eats your kidney.
as said above the devil prefers men so there will be only ugly chicks at his party.
party must be all the time above 150+ and people must dance at all time without stoping even for taking a piss. they piss while dancing to his evel tunes and never ever you make a bass fat . it has to be a blast beat machine gun . so if you don't wanna mess with that dude just don't show up ! you have been warned!           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

We are all in awe as to how cool you are that you avoid people who are having fun moving their bodies!
