Slower bpm = more time between beats, more space for mixing sounds, bigger sounds, deeper bass, longer waveforms, closer to heartbeat rate, wider audience, swing percussion sounds groovier...

What came to my mind. I don't think low bpm is better tho, just a little bit more versatile... if thats even the word.

well, what is low BPM and what is high BPM? to me, anything above 150 is High BPM.

Everyone needs a balanced trance diet, there is good stuff in all ranges - even though I am not a fan of 'dark/twilight/speedcore/ThatStuff' usually, there is some stuff that is great fun to dance to.

However, I have NEVER *EVER* EVER EVER EVER seen a dancefloor sustain its population and energy if its exposed to 150+ BPM for more than a couple of hours.

I can dance to 145 for hours and hours without stopping for anything but water. Can't do the same with faster stuff. That's just me and my personal observation.

Also, I like to hear the timbre of the bass - 150+ compared to 145 and below I can barely hear it, its just a machine gun. Sometimes that's cool, but I can't take it for more than a couple of hours in the middle of the night.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

i kinda agree with that. if you go above ca. 150-155bpm with kbbb all the low freqs sort of melt into one deep hum with neither the kick nor the bass really having an impact.
i do know lots of hard hitting music at 180-200bpm, but those tracks all have kbkb or even k-k-k-.

well its already been said more time between everything rather. it allows more flexibility. downtempo rocks. you can tweak the fuck out of that shit and do things you can only imagine in high speed dance songs.           http://www.youtube.com/user/trawhi (tutorials)

Its agreed that slower tempo allows longer wavelength...

But i would not dismiss faster tempo just because of this, 160 -170 bpm DnB can have a big impact, also you can make slow melodies ontop of fast beats and get a real nice groove..

i think variation is the key to everything, its all about balance....

i think 120 to 150bpm for psytrance is nice
sometimes a bit over 150 can be real nice, to let it it all out.... i even heard some aus psy in very high bpm and its very groovy and energetic
