BCOZ 99% OF THE CROWD DONT BUY IT...THEY DOWNLOAD IT FROM PIRATE SITES... psytrance will die bcoz of that (piracy)...no money no funny, no studios, no pcs and laptops, vsts and a shit load of other stuff that is needed to make good music...but in the mind of the psytrancer these things dont exist the music they like simply appears in his pc like a magical thing

good reply ZenMind.
Well as an artist myself I never download anything, I buy everything I play from beatport and that's why I'm always wondering why I can't get more psytrance there, I wish that more people bought there music there
Sites like that are great because you pay only about 1.39 to 2 dollars per track it is really cheap, you get the tracks in high quality compared to those off the net downloads.
however I have to admit that I trade one or 2 tracks with my friends who also buy tracks there but as we all buy the tracks and end up buying more tracks from that artist I guess is not such a bad thing.

I think you should read my recent topic:
http://forum.isratrance.com/labels-and-artists-make-your-full-catalogue-available-in-the-digital-download-shops/
Beatport is highly selective about what labels it partners with, ostensibly to increase their status and reputation in the electronic music underground. This is bound to backfire, as consumers desire more content and a better way to search for what they want--not less content, for whatever reason. Here is an excerpt direct from Beatport:
Quote:
| We think it is very important to be the definitive home of dance music and to accommodate as many new labels and talent as possible. However, at the current time we are not taking on any new label partners. We thank you for your patience as we work to bring on more new labels in the near future. |

ZenMind, you have it backwards. The limited selection of psytrance on sites like Beatport is not an effect of piracy but a cause of it. To apply your 99% statistic to something relevant: 99% of psytrance cannot be legally purchased for download online. And you wonder why people turn to piracy when much of the music they want is unavailable, out of stock, and out of print?
Once again, I strongly encourage all psytrance labels and artists to get their full catalogues up on sites like Cytopia.

despite an increase in music dowloads, CD sales are up. It won't die bec ause of downloads. No genre of music will.
Beatport doesnt have psy because its just not thier market.

It will be hard though, many people will continue doing the music (such as us) but if the amount of people supporting (by buying) decreases, there will be a lack of sustainability in the long-term for the artist to produce music. That is why POP does so well, because it's popular and popular is the majority. The majority is demand and demand causes need for supply.

thats what the market wants you to belive...
there`s still people who has self opinion, and at least a bit of good taste...
those will always dig hard enough for the good stuff...
maybe we shouldnt be aiming for the same money making path as the big labels...
albums selling, specially today, is all work of HARD advertising...
one thing that really amuses me, advertising campaigns starting off half a year and such before the album is out...nowadays, with piracy all around....thats the only way you getting some brains deeply washed to buy that crap...
  un-fucking-believable |

Couldn't agree with you more on that one!
It's sad to see so many people with talent not getting any notice from big labels but the people with no talent ... well, we all know that it's just lots of money behind them.
