If he's a priest in an sect that demands celibacy, then no, he won't be a priest for very long; he'll be removed from his position.
well but this is not the case even with christianity. i mean, we also have quite a lot of rules in some aspects, and the priests that break them are still official priests. and in some monasteries there is also solibacy demand but you never know what they do behind the curtains, and they are still priests. factually priests. theoretically and in definition no, but factually they are called priests.
that was the point. the believing was about Goa Gil being a bridge to God (or Gu Ru= from the darkness into the light). but i dont let it be a factual mistake that he is one of the order. and btw you must be living in a total utopie if you think that the rest of the babas there have never ever desires with a woman or even a partner woman. they have sometimes. after that they are embarrased and try to come back to the way. if they were all excluded from the order for that, they would be no order at all soon.
but at least i wanna emphasise that for me as being born in a christian society, it is quite normal thing that the holy men dont really fit to their definitions. i know that india is much more sacred in that, but still this is what i have seen all my life. and the holy men dont just get excluded because they didnt fit to their own rules, cause they have their official order....and popes and whatever.

It's quite funny, that moki basicly said in another topic that artists that accept big fee's usually have big ego's.
TO ME, demanding that you'd be the ONLY person on the lineup with your wife... THAT is having a big ego...
But hey maybe other artists are just shit and cannot connect to people like GIL does... who knows?

guys, i would really really ask you to read what has been said till now in this discussion. rotating in one point is boring.
well, after all that has been said here, do you seriously think that there is another one that can keep the ritual on that level? i dont.
no one else that i know in this scene has such a strong connection to the holy order of Juna Akara in India, even all the people from India, no matter how sad and dissatisfied they are about that, but they dont even have slightly the same connection to Juna Akhara as he does.
and even labels or artists or whatever, that i really thought to be quite far out with trance generally, and to be quite into this whole culture, showed that they dont even know and respect the simplest facts. so i guess it is a good idea to keep it pure like that . who needs the ego games of the other artists playing. who needs their boring statements what are the definitions. Goa Gil breaks the definitions. Always. And even if he keeps to the traditions all the time while he is with the babas,( which i really admire him for, cause i wouldnt be able to,) he is still beyond definitions.
and besides if this is a real initiation from the darkness into the light, then it is good to be done without changing artists every two hours. never liked this moment of changing artists, hand applauses or whatever. it is boring. and especially because they all try to be the best, and to have the peak experience for the audience in their own sets. thats why i hardly manage to be in trance for 20 hours non stop without drugs, and i dont take "drugs" you know, it is just breaking the trance, exactly this moment of applauses or chaotic peaks.... It is a totally different story to have it from one hand directing the peak experiences in the right time and keeping the trance experience flowing.....
And his wife, i love her project. She is incredible. Dont call her a wife, it makes you ridiculous. She is not just a wife. She is a partner priestess. Thats why he lets her open the experience.

I'm sorry but i don't understand anything that your talking about...
And i'm sorry i just don't get it... I don't get what people find in Gil, so marvelous so amazing and everything he is doing is so great, it's like if he would ask you to jump of a cliff you would do it. Okay he was one of the 1st dj's in goa, and respect for that.
Once again i'm sorry but for me, (and this is only my point of view.)
His musical projects and his wife, are really poorly produced the sounds they use are really boring and has been and frankly i don't see anything interesting in them. And his dj skills are really horrible as well.
So i just don't get this Goa Gil thing... I don't get how people can look upon him as some sort of GOD.
Maybe it's just that i'm not a spiritual guy, maybe i have nothing to do with this trance scene...

i agree with the point of breaking the trance
changing artists every one or two hours
can destroy a flow of a set or night
at least let one artists play for 2 hour minimum
and then change the act
i think artists should play even longer at least 3 hour dj sets
so they can really build a story with ther set
and have people into trance
however orgs these days dont seem to think the same thing
esp in nyc where you have 15 djs slated for a 8 hour party
maeks no sense to me

Remy [POF], you dont have to be sorry, it is just the way it is, it is your view....
if you dont find anything special in him even after this whole discussion, then i cannot help you with anything anymore. actually i cant help anyone who states that trance is only about music and nothing more beyond that.
it is the way it is guys..
but this is also why you dont get the contradiction with the fees. i dont emphasise on the trance scene as a market, it is just totally not the main thing that i love in trance and that drew me to this scene. i emphasise on the concepts, on the trance experience as a mind consciousness shift, the tribal gathering....and if all that is perfect, i am not even slightly interested in the fees. and by the way to be honest, i would find it a little bit ridiculous if he would say, people from now on i will not get fees. cause i think he knows that he has to deserve respect with all this background. and he cannot just be booked by anyone, you have to really want him and respect him...this is my explanation.
but please keep in mind sth, i am talking here all the time as a simple trancer. i wouldnt ever jump from the hills cause he tells me that, although it was really a big thing for myself to touch anyones feet as i did on the Kumbha Mela....
but i just wanted to show you some obvious things. cause i find the goa gil discussion really stupid till now. dj technics okey, producing okey, just opinions, but to deny his background is the most disrespectful thing that people did and i find it not only boring and anti trancy but also very stupid somehow ( doesnt mean that the people who did it are stupid, i do also stupid things in life sometimes....but you get the point)

the arianne/nimba stuff is brilliant. some of the best realised experiments to come out of psychedelic trance fusion.
musically, don't understand why gil is the one under the spotlight...and critics here seem to be even bigger fans than the fans. why anyone would want him to play as a DJ outside his parties is very confusing. doesn't take much to see that it would be an absolute disaster!
if you're looking for definitions pujari would be a better fit. pujaris get paid for what they do, and within that category he'd probably be one of more candid and venerable of the lot.
even if he had a bunch of followers who look upto him as a guru, I don't see anything horrible in what he's projecting. yeah maybe the smoking chillums 24/7 is a bit juvenile but what else do u expect a to come from a group of dudes sitting in a circle in the mountains? Those who see him as a road to God on the other hand probably need that reassurance because they don't see the connection in themselves.
I also think it's pretty cool that he's married and travels the world with his wife... compare that to that very common DJ who's motive is to stand behind the console so that he can decide who he's going to boink right after as a reward. or worse, demand that the organiser arrange someone. (it happens A LOT!)
anyhoo, all this critical energy would be best directed at more relevant screwups in this world. imo, the world with gil doing his thing is more leverage to the happier side of the see saw.

everyone except one or two people tried to argument on this topic that he was just sitting there with the naga babas. he was just a tourist just made pictures and photos or whatever other nonsense your brilliant heads gave birth to. but never mind. we should sit one day and drop a nice chillum and talk, would be nice:). and does the question about india relate to the discussion or the video in any way or is it just private curiosity, cause if its the second, you can pm me too. i was for very little time there, straight to kumbha mela, there for weeks... vast cultural shock, and then goa, just for a short time cause i had no free days from job , and my guy from that time either. i really really dont know much about india, expept the naga babas......
