The Manu Smriti, important as it is in it's own right, is not the authority used for the study of Dharma. The Manu smriti is not a scripture, it is not considered divine...it was merely a "Constitution" governing the laws and actions of society at that time. The Bhagvad Gita contradicts many statements in the Manu Smriti, and the Gita is accorded more importance than the Manu Smriti. You keep saying you have been to the Kumbh and that THAT'S THE MAIN THING. NO IT'S NOT THE MAIN THING...you are not surrounded by this culture everyday, you do not live within this culture most of the time..you just went for a KUMBH..doesn't mean you are an authority on any of it. It's like going to the bloody BOOM. BOOM = KUMBH...first few Booms were lovely, now it's a money making commercialized event...same with the KUMBH..now it's become an industrialized commercialized TOURIST EVENT. So stop harping about the Kumbh. The Kumbh is merely a mass Hindu Pilgrimage, the most sacred of pilgrimages. The Kumbh is not the end all and be all of spirituality and just because you went for one doesn't mean anything. You are but an ant in the sea of Millions of Indians who view it is as extremely sacred...many of us HAVE BEEN..why would you think we have not?? A Sadhu can have "HAD=past tense" a wife..but the moment he becomes a Sadhu he SHOULD NOT. But this is besides the point. You earlier completely shredded appart the whole "theory and definition" notion but now you claim that you know more than some of the Hindus here because you read a couple of "BOOKS". Being born and brought up as a Hindu outweighs as many scriptures as you could read...living as a Hindu is an everyday occurance, surrounded by temples and prayers and flowers...you walk out of your house and it's in your face all the time...so no ammount of books read by you makes up for that. There is no such thing as a "MODERN DAY" Sadhu. A Sadhu is a Sadhu is a Sadhu..no deviations, no allowances, no cheating. Visiting the Kumbh from the past 30 years or more doesn't make Gil holier than an Indian villager who has been visiting the Kumbh since one's birth and who inculcates this religion all the time everyday.

do you always need to have it said at least 5 times that we dont know anything better than you??????????????????????????????
i mean i said it at least three times till now. at least. we dont know anything about india more than you do. we are the bad guys who come and conquer the ancient cultures and dont know anything about them at the end . i mean, do you want to hear this once or twice in every page??????????????????????????????

i said i am not a hindu and i dont know so much about it. ( although i certainly know more about your culture than i do about mine which is also some 1000s years old so at least i am trying to consider but if you deny something as simple as the four stages of life, then i dont know what to say other then go and read it). now i know which is considered divine and which not. as i told you some posts ago, for me the oral tradition is divine. for me the music is divine. my god is the frequence. i dont have anything else divine. really not. for me what some djs do is divine. i can call it also in 90 different languages if you dont like the term sadhu spreaded around.

p.s. and sorry but i never said that kumbha mela is the only one thing. i think i said it is the smallest to imagine. but anyway, just sticking into words. words, words.

Maybe you have a very low opinion of yourself, and in general are extremely ignorant, but kindly do not generalize. Ask the average middle class Indian who waits 9 hours in a line just to get a 20 second darshan of Ganesh, or a 10 second darshan of the Devi during Diwali..YES they do know more about this than You or Tina or even me. Your statements are very Vague and Blah!! If you have nothing to contribute save your alcohol consumption schedule, do us all a favour and do it on your own time. If you have something educated to say we all would liek to hear it.

mama..mia..!!

Who are you to judge me? I am an average middle class Indian. I earn my own living. The problem with you is that, you think you know a lot about hinduism and Indian culture. If yes, you must have heard about this place called "Puri"? Its about 65 kms from the place where I was born. You must have seen the Jagannath Rath yatra which is broadcast live on national TV every year in August..?

How many times have you been inside the Puri Jagannath temple?

Please dont think, im one of those kids on the block who pop acid and think they are supreme beings. I know my limits, responsibilities and duties.

To me, you dont seem like an average middle class Indian!

Btw, i didnt make fun of any sadhu... i was just kidding. And, you have a terribly pathetic sense of humor.

I've been to Vaishno Devi a few times, does that count as a pilgrimage? Kidding aside, as a follower of Sanatana Dharma who is Indian in origin and who is born and raised in the UK, even I know that Gil (respect to him) is not a sadhu in the traditional sense. Maybe before he was, but if he has a wife, then he's not anymore. More like a 21st century rishi maybe. Moki, I recommend you read some David Frawley, if you want to find out more about Hinduism from a western viewpoint.           Turn On, Tune In, Trance Out!!!

Ok point noted, my sense of humour is definitely suffering a slight drawback I guess I am the one who needs a couple of vodka shots.

Fria....the point is that i dont even doubt on your knowledge and vast inner connection to mother india. also please keep in mind that you take personally something that was directed to another poster. i just seem to fail the right words to tell you that i am really sorry if i hurt your inner religious beliefs by taking the term sadhu. i was not aware before this discussion that i hurt the hindu soul with saying that goa gil is a sadhu. wish you all good....
all the time i am just explaining why i used this term, also of inner beliefs...it is sad because i am not sure anymore if it was right to publish a video like that in this form but i will consider it later in silence what to do next. sorry once more and thanks for the informations that i am sure no one else here besides you knows.

moki ..., what exactly about my post did u not get .. i know very well of the 4 stages of life etc .. all i was questioning was where Dj Goagil fits in there , just the `meditate with wife` bit which i haven`t heard of , i thought was solo , but anyway .. the point was about dj Goagil . and what makes you question iv been to the maha kumbh and another ? .. sure iv been , i went , i hung out , smoked the pot ... etc . its regular u see , its not a deluded obsession bought on by excessive lsd use for me ..

again , because u seem very slow in the brain , so let me run it by u thru again .. I know the 4 stages etc etc .. all i want to know is where exactly dj goagil is in these stages ? .. the sadhu ? who leaves everything , work , family .. everything and his only quest is nirvana/moksha .. etc ? .. reeaally ??
