Why does "progressive" have to mean "slow and soft"

Thanks for introducing me to Sensient. I like this
However it is both slow (all the tracks I've found so far are 142 or lower) and somewhat minimal-sounding, which is exactly what I'm NOT looking for.
Basically what I'm looking for is music that has the energy and feeling of "normal" psytrance (and is about the same speed!) but has the progressive structure.

So you are basically looking for good psychedelic trance.

Okay fine, forget the word progressive.
I am looking for NORMAL psytrance which slowly builds up and then slowly breaks back down again |

| If something has progressive structure, it is progressive, regardless of speed/minimalness/whatever.
"progressive" when used with dance music is a term that refers to the way the song is structured, and is not to be confused with "progressive" as used with other kinds of music, which means "forward-looking" and is a comment on style.

After reading your words...the guys here are offering you lots of differente progressive From deep prog, to tech-prog, to dark-prog, to more lighter prog... but you cant really figure it out what you really want. On the end you are still translating the word "progressive" but getting the word progressive by it sense its mission impossible for you, right
Try something like S-range, Zen Mechanics instead

A lot of good music for the dancefloor has some sort of progressive structure. No tune comes hammering in like it does on bar 97 or 193 for example. It starts off with the basic beats and bassline, adding them little elements that will make the tune driving, yet not give away the stuff that will come when the tune peaks.

or, in other words, something that doesn't have cheesy full-on hands-in-the-air build-ups?
how about Scorb? tunes like Yodyssey, Wobbly Matter, Pyrotechno are along the same lines. but you should check out Scorb regardless because he's fucking brilliant.
Deviant Species is a bit faster than Sensient, but along the same lines. not a whole lot of leads, but loads of atmosphere.
but if you are talking about more traditional psy/prog, how about older Andromeda, old Perfect Stranger/BLT, and maybe Emok. all kind of more full-onish prog without those annoying buildups. though Emok and PF have a certain electro-ish tinge to them. |

For me the best example of a track that manages to combine psy trance with progressive trance is the all time classic Purple & Lunar-Subtle Thrust that also happens to be my all time favorite tune.
The track starts from somewhere and PROGRESSES to somewhere else with a magical flow, for me this is how progressive trance should sound.
