There is such a thing as hard progressive music, but I feel like in psytrance when people call something "progressive" it tends to mean "137-142 bpm and minimal-sounding".

I want some HARD progressive, and not just techy stuff either.

Good examples of what I like in this respect:
Plasmotek - "Gargamelized" and "Bubble Boy"
Son Kite - "On Air" and "Game & Watch"

Basically I'm looking for tracks with progressive structure, that is to say

2-3 minutes of a long, regular buildup
then a climax in the middle
and then 2-3 minutes of winding down (which you layer over the next track building up)
but I want it to have the energy of "normal" fullon and darkpsy, and not be all wimpy and minimal

maybe you guys could help me out here?

Hey,

You dont listen to progressive much am i right? There is bunch of so called "hard" progressive sounds. And it aint everything in speed and how hard does it get. If you think that way, than you are thinking wrong my friend. A good progressive with some nice bassline movement is also based at 130 till 133

And if you find Son Kite as "hard" progressive than you are out of so called "hard" range. Try to browse over Plusquam rec., Iono-music, Terratech studios... they do offer some quality stuff... but why to start shwoing names, when you are having a DJ MIX section where you can browse and DL

Enjoy,
P.

142 is slow only if you've necked about 7 pills and sniffed 1 gram of ket...all laid out on one massive line.

"to elevate music to new levels of artistic credibility , push technical and compositional boundaries"

how did it conect to the 135 boring to death artists i have no idea. offcourse there is alot of great stuff too in 135 but its not progressive at all by definition. not by music normal defintions . u cant do the same dumb 3 chords of evry band and say its progressive , but it worked for them hehe good marketing.
its actualy the most conformist sub genre in trance. maybe 2nd after repetative cheesy fullon. this why most the real good artists moved to techno anywayz no.. where u can use even less sounds but in more 'free form' wayz..

btw p&s - and 142 bpm is not fast for sure. and no i dont do pills. never did. or maybe fast is personal taste ha.          www.sattelbattle.com

For sure

Try to listen this / every second track is above 135bpm ( http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ech/ech1cd007.html ) And if you find this cheesy and as you called "2nd after repetative cheesy fullon" .... may god have mercy on you

Its very pure, groovin, floatin progressive compilation...and still many of them here. But this crossed my mind

Enjoy,
P.

ok maybe even fullon is less monotinic?

without listen i will tell u 95% of so called prog imo are very cheesy , repetative , and boring.
maybe this cd is diffrent. i like freq too so what. but its still not that "progressive" (as word that meen progress , its just more minimalistic not pushing any boundry at all)

and i heard more then 100 cds of that sub genre , its not new thing. been in many many parties too.
1 that is highlight wont change my mind on the hole genre.
i see most of the exeptions (for good) are on this cd like quantize perfect stanger loopus infabula and more. ill probably like it. the good names. thats about sum up my artist i like in prog. i heard the rest , not as good as those.
just like in dark style there is 90% of crap that fits shity isratrance general opinion on "just fast bass with noise" but there is also 10% of gold.

now for the listen. (will find it on saiko for longer preview even)

no closed mind here. i do it too , and hope its more close to freq then any artist that u posted. i like him better then all i heard last 30 minutes. but offcourse that like shasha in house , or boris brejcha in techno , "minimal" but actualy not at all , full of sounds and melodies , and imo they are 3 top artists in their genre          www.sattelbattle.com

For me parties and trance was always about looking for surprise or not knowing what to look for at all. About breaking structures and formulas.

Knowing exactly what you want to listen/dance to seems so boring to me....           ---------------------------------------------
